Emerald rings?

Carissa Brittney, on May 6, 2017 at 6:50 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 31

I'm in love with a pear shaped lab created emerald ring. Does anyone have emerald rings and if so, do you like it? Anyone have experience with lab created gems?

From what I understand, the lab created emerald has the same properties as a naturals emerald and fewer inclusions. And, it hasn't been mined!

The lab created stones are the equivalent of a greenhouse to grow plants.

I don't have much experience with emeralds, but I think they're gorgeous and I think lab created is perfectly fine. And I love pear shaped rings!! I bet it'll be so pretty!

My fiancé works in the jewelry business and has said emeralds are a soft stone. He has said that a green sapphire will be more durable. I don't know how this works with lab created stones though.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to look into their hardness. I know they aren't as hard as a diamond but I'm not sure exactly how soft either.

@amandah they aren't fake. They are grown in a laboratory but are identical chemically, physically and optically to natural gems.

It's not my E ring but FH gave me one for my birthday before we got engaged because dark green is my favorite color. It's honestly so beautiful and I wear it sometimes instead of my E ring, I love it so much!

I have an emerald engagement ring. It's actually an antique, and it holds up remarkably well. If you love it, go for it.

You do you girl! I have a sapphire ring, dunno if it's lab or not, but I absolutely adore it. And to be honest I've seen some butt ugly natural emeralds out there, so lab would probably be best. I would look into durability though. I'd make sure it's harder or as hard as things like quartz so if you bang in on granite and the like it won't get scratched. Big reason I chose sapphire over my first choice of tanzanite.

I have lab created stone and it's perfect BECAUSE it's man made. It's still technically natural in that it's properties are the same. The way it was formed is not natural, but that doesn't make it any less valuable. In fact, if you were to bring it in to a jeweler they wouldn't be able to tell any difference. Plus, I don't have to worry that my diamond might have been a "blood diamond" in any case. No one will know the difference and it's certainly not fake. Go for it!

I have a lab created emerald because I wanted something ethically sourced. I like lab over natural because they have fewer inclusions and generally sparkle better.

Mine has held up well for a year now, but I do need to get it cleaned regularly to keep it shiny. I also removed it wherever I clean as bleach can harm it.

I would recommend checking out green sapphires if you can afford them since they are harder. If not, be sure to go with a jeweler who guarantees the stone and will replace it if it ever chips or gets scratched.
