Elopement on Sunday - ideas to make it romantic and special

Nicole , on August 23, 2012 at 7:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

As per Haley's suggestion, I'll start a new topic on this. FH and I are eloping on Sunday very spontaneously. Well, as spontaneous as you can be with a waiting period of 72 hours in Jersey. Smiley winking so now we started looking for some cute ideas to implement.

This is what we have so far:

My dress and his suit

Rings

Two witnesses

Bouquet and boutonnière (my friend will make them yay)

We will add a scarf to my outfit for when we drive off in the sunset for dramatic effect

Just married sign for the car

So ladies, any ideas?

Hotel suite with a view, chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and dinner at a little french restaurant (they still exist).

Oh yea. Champagne we already have. Chocolate covered strawberries - good idea!!! Thanks!

We also have a minister obviously. Hopefully the weather is nice and we can use the outside gazebo

Maybe have one of your witnesses snap a few pictures for you?

Yes. My friend is on that. And i will take pictures before and while getting ready as well. We will also let the camera film the ceremony, if the minister allows it. I am excited. I have all those pics in my head already. And afterwards instagram will become my best friend hehe

And don't forget to use Shutterfly or something to create a beautiful wedding album with those pics Smiley smile

I second Pan's suggestion of a hotel suite and chocolate covered strawberries. So romantic! Maybe a cute set of toasting glasses for that night.

When/if you go to dinner, make sure to tell them what you did. Maybe they will provide a little dessert!

I forgot to mention that we are just going to the Cheesecake Factory so we can have dinner and wedding cake. I loveeee ther cheesecakes. Smiley laugh

The hotel would be a great idea but since we both have I get up super early the next day to go to work, we just go home, and ... Be husband and wife Smiley winking

As for the toasting flutes! Good idea. Thanks. I'll hit Michaels for that. I need to see if I can find a coupon online.

    Thanks!

Candles. Duh. You are right! Thanks. Sometimes you can really forgot the most obvious things (thanks to Haley for suggesting to open a topic, I thought I was well prepared lol). And yay. Thanks for the link, Serenity!

Oh. Shutterfly! I forgot to comment on that. I love shutterfly! I will definitely make books for us and the attendants. Which reminds me, should we buy a gift for the attendants or do we wait for the real wedding? They will obviously be in the wedding party. For now, we were just planning on taking them out for dinner, but now I am wondering if that's not enough?

IMO I would wait until the wedding. You are having a real wedding on Sunday Smiley smile

I doubt they expect it, and I think taking them to dinner is fine. Keeps it low key.

(edit typos, coffee is not finished yet)

I love this idea. It's so fun! I think it's fine to wait until the "big wedding" when they are attendants to gift your witnesses but if you want to give them each a little something I'm sure they would be surprised and appreciate it! Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Lizz, Haha, I know that Pre-coffee problem. I can't guarantee for anything before I had my cup of gold. Smiley winking as for the gifts, ok. Now I feel better. We will have champagne, dinner and cake and they will get a nice thank you card and a shutterfly book after. And then we will shower them with gifts after the big wedding.

Thank you, Jacqueline and Tyra. Smiley smile

Tiffany, that's being taken care of. Smiley smile
