Elopement help

I was supposed to get married March 28, 2020. Our venue closed due to covid, so we got married in a local park, just my, hubby, photographer and officiant. We are now having the ceremony and reception we already paid for in February 2022.

Congrats on officially deciding to elope! We recently eloped (July 2021) to the Oregon coast and I posted our elopement experience at the link below (with budget stuff and advice)!


When it was finally time, we found a random spot on the beach of our choice and had our best friend marry us. Super casual! Our dog decided to ditch the ceremony halfway through to say hi to strangers. He was super excited the entire day!
Meanwhile, our coordinator set up our styled picnic based off of our rentals and previously discussed theme. She made everything run smoothly the day of the wedding.
We quickly took some bridal portraits before eating and drinking. There was an impromptu first dance in the sand. We finished up after about three total hours and a cold dip in the ocean!

After nearly 3 years of being engaged (due to postponing a year), we ditched our wedding plans and decided to elope in Hawaii on Halloween. When we made that switch in August, I began searching this app for others who also eloped. But there doesn’t seem to be very many.


We still have a little over a month to go. So I can’t share any experience from that side of it yet. In our case, only FH and I will be there. Also, only our parents and 5 friends know about the elopement (our other former guests will receive a surprise notice and photo afterward).
But we hired wedding planners and selected one of their elopement packages. That’s been extremely helpful because it was pretty much all-inclusive —officiant, photography, videography, leis, cake, limo, assistance with marriage license and we selected one of the beach locations (you could also do add-ons of other services).
