Has anyone eloped with just you and your SO and then thrown a reception after a few months later?

We are thinking of this as this is my second wedding and his first but we don’t want a traditional setup and ceremony. We just like to party with friends and family! Lol

We didn't/aren't doing this, but we have attended multiple receptions after elopements or destination weddings. This is actually a really common thing to do and is perfectly acceptable etiquette-wise. Of the 5 we've been to, at only one of them did the couple repeat their vows. The other 4 were just dinner, drinks, music and dancing!

That's actually how my parents got married! My mom's cousin also did that a couple of years ago. They ended up getting married in Turks and Caicos, then had their reception at my mom's cousin's wife's parents' house a few months later. I went to the reception, and it ended up being a good time! It was fairly casual (as in everyone wore sundresses/polos) and they got a local caterer to come and do Italian food. The pizza was amazing! We all sat under a tent in the backyard and had a great time
