Elope before actual wedding day??

Gracey, on March 25, 2022 at 9:56 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Hello! So I need an opinion! My fiancé HATES that we are having a big wedding. He keeps saying that he wants to have a Braveheart Moonlit Wedding kind of deal. I’ve been thinking about this more and more and I think that’s something I’d be interested in doing with him before our “wedding day” (aka 9/17/22). We also live in PA so we can do a self-uniting marriage license. Has anyone else thought of doing this before or has done this before?

I would do that too but my anniversary is a month after we get married… I was thinking about maybe doing it on Aug 4 when he proposed

Oh this would be so cute!

Plenty of couple opt for a legal marriage before their big day, especially when one or both people involved aren't fans of huge weddings or being the center of attention! It's actually something we considered for a while!

If he doesn’t want to marry in a big wedding, just have the elopement and call it a day. Why is the big wedding necessary if it’s not something he wants? You mentioned that he hates the big wedding idea so don’t do something that isn’t required that would cause either of you anger or emotional distress. You both need to be on the same page. Have save the date notices gone out? Just call everyone to say you eloped and there won’t be a ceremony.

If you do decide to have a large ceremony for show afterwards, be honest with guests that you already married, and call the larger ceremony a vow renewal. It may be a new trend for some due to Covid but not everyone is on board with it, due to the idea that it’s now accepted to be secretive about the fact that they have already married.

Save the Dates went out months ago. I have my dress and all of our bridal party has their dresses or have been fitted for tuxes. Not to mention I have all of our vendors booked 🤷🏼‍♀️

Omg this is what I want to do too so bad! We are from Texas and having our wedding in Florida, I wanted to get "legally" married in Texas just so we arent stressed with the paperwork/courthouse yadda yadda before the wedding as well as i dont want a stranger to officiate us. Such a waste of money. I will have to see if FL allows for the self-uniting marriage license, I have never heard of that before!
