Hello! I've been having a really hard time finding a great place to get bridesmaid dresses. A lot of the places I have looked at don't carry the style of dresses I am looking for. I want a more elegant cocktail evening dresses for my bridesmaids and I'm not sure about buying dresses from China......

Ok, so I get it is your wedding, but I don't feel like you should be making people dress in a way they do not feel comfortable. The typical bridesmaids dress styles are usually ones that are flattering on most body types and are a little more conservative. You do not have to go that route and if your bridesmaids like the style above then that is great, but its a bit harsh to say you would kick someone out if they don't want to wear a sexy dress.

I think people should let their bridesmaids choose their own dress and have them follow a color or color pallet. If someone is spending around $200 on a dress shouldn't they like it? You can always be the final approver.

    And here come the dramatics.

I don't "hate" you for your opinion for Christ sake. But saying you'll kick someone out of your wedding party because they may express to you that they are uncomfortable in a dress is fucked up.

@miami I am sorry if I offended you but I have been dealing with a lot and planning a wedding is very stressful. Especially with very opinionated BM and other family members. You don't know me but I am a very kind person I wouldn't necessarily be so rude to my friends and family but after 14 months Of planning and stressing and crying over other people stressing me out, I am starting to get a short fuse with people. However I do not share your opinions on them picking their own dresses. Also arguing on a website about my views just seems so childish to me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Please stop shaming me for my own.

@Rejie you did not offend me because I am not one of your bridesmaids and I am not trying to shame you. It is just that when you ask someone to be in your wedding party you are asking a favor so you should try to be a little flexible, especially since it costs so much on their part. If they are fine with these types of dress then there is no issue.

Weddings are stressful. We get it. Just be careful with the my way or the highway types of statements. It comes off as a bit bridezilla like.

Check out Bella Bridesmaids. Also consider doing separates - we are doing a top and a skirt and have accomplished a very sexy and sophisticated evening look.

@Rejie you are the only bride ever to be stressed out. Not sure how you are coping!

Now to cut through the bs. You don't want peoples opinions? Don't talk about you wedding to them. See problem solved!

Also if one of your BM is self conscious enough to not be comfortable you should be a good enough friend to say I understand. Let's find something that's going to look good on you. A BM is not a prop. These are your nearest and dearest standing beside you on your wedding day.

What a lovely way to treat your closest friends, Rejie! With a friend like you, who needs enemies? "Be Tits McGee or stay outta my wedding, betch!"

Haven't read all of the comments, but the slut shaming and body shaming that's happening is disgraceful.

Try Adrianna Papell! They have some beautiful, sparkly, classy gowns that make me wish I had an opportunity to wear a gown in my near future (besides my wedding gown, of course!) I'm a fan of letting each girl pick her own dress, within a set of guidelines from the bride. That way everyone looks and feels beautiful, and no one is self conscious! Please consider offering that flexibility to your nearest and dearest ladies.

OP - will you be buying each of your BMs a push up bra? Otherwise your demands are just plain rude. Expect them to squeeze into a dress without the proper tools to lift, tuck and shape the body. Honestly.

Be careful with Rent the Runway -- great selection, but you'd better reserve months in advance. I got stuck at the last minute running to Lord and Taylor for a black tie wedding because RTR was out of both colors weeks in advance.

I agree with the poster who said to be very mindful of the body types of your BMs if you're going THAT sexy -- and that dress is an eyeful. It will show every flaw, so make sure your ladies are comfortable in those styles.

September is a big wedding month -- just be sure to reserve from RTR early enough (and, I believe, they give you a second size free of charge).
