Electronic RSVP's

Willbewilkins, on September 7, 2017 at 6:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

The weddings I've been invited to ranged from super casual weddings with no formal RSVPs to formal weddings with fancy RSVP cards and others in between. I have no idea how people make it work with no RSVPs. But I was wondering if rsvp through the wedding website would work? Is there a reason we need paper RSVPs? Are we more likely to get a response with paper than online?

TIA

It's worked well for me so far. My invites went out a week ago and I already have close to 50 percent replies and we invited 200. ETA we are doing electronic rsvps only.

I have no idea how people do it without RSVPs either....so crazy. As for online RSVP, I think it's a "know your crowd" thing.

We had a small-ish guest list with no elderly guests (who might not know how to RSVP online) so we did strictly online RSVP and it worked out for us. I only had to track down a few people in my family for RSVPs.

I invited like 180 people and the online RSVPs for me so far have been working great. of course there are a few people who didnt do it right or didnt know how, but even with paper RSVPs you have to run some people down

Worked fine for us. You can still have a formal wedding and do away with RSVP cards. I actually don't believe the invite dictates the formalness of the occasion.

Some guests, especially people like grandparents, may not know how to do an electronic rsvp.

I did paper rsvp because I don't expect everyone to have access to a computer and be able to check my wedding website.

Sounds weird but lot of my family lives In a super po dunk town and all still have land lines and very limited internet. Like my 86 year old nanna and older aunt's won't be able to navigate thst

My guests barely know how to log onto my wedding website (its password protected), so we won't be doing electronic RSVPs as much as I would like to. It's more of a know you're crows thing.

We did electronic and text message and had nearly 100% RSVP on time. That said, we knew our guest list could handle it (all tech savvy types)

I did both because I have older people that don't use computers. I only put stamps on the older people's RSVP envelopes since I knew they would be mailing them back and not RSVP online

We are sending an RSVP card but not to be returned. Our guests can reply on our website, by email, or by phone, with both my and FHs cell numbers. We are using Appy Couple for our website which tracks RSVPs. With it we have the option to edit responses ourselves so if calls/emails come in we will respond in our website accordingly for those guests so we only have one list. I know lots of times people don't send the cards back so we didn't want to spend the extra one envelopes and stamps that wouldn't be used. My grandpa is our only living elderly relative and he is VERY tech savvy so we shouldn't have any problem!

Definitely worked for me. I use knot website thou I found it much friendlier to use. Each guest name was already ready.. they type their name and hit " find invitation" to which the invitation came up. Then they RSVP and I was notify! We're having a brunch wedding so it was definitely can work!

I know someone who put to RSVP on their wedding website but they also gave the option to RSVP via phone or email

I've actually only gone to one wedding that didn't have electronic RSVP's. All the other ones I've been to directed guests online to RSVP. I'm doing electronic RSVP's as well and haven't had a problem.

I will add that I'm glad that I put the website on the Save the Dates because I found out that a lot of my relatives didn't realize it was a website because I didn't type "www." at the start of it. They thought I was being cute and pretending to have a hallmark on it. This time I made sure to include the words "go online to ......" lol

I did online rsvp's and they have worked out wonderfully so far. As to the the elderly guests - most are closely related and I can rsvp on their behalf so I can manage dinner entree orders.

How do the online RSVP's work? Do they let you pick your meal choice and add in your plus one's name? I've tried pretending I'm a guest and RSVPing as a random name and it'll just let me! Lol

My FH and I chose online RSVPs. Most of our guests use a computer everyday so them figuring it out wasn't a concern. That being said, my mom offered to field RSVP phone calls for guests who didn't want to or know how to use the wedding website.

We are still early in the process but so far no one has RSVP online all through the mail. We've heard back from 40 out of 115. Several of our friends have responded so even "younger" people in my group still prefer snail mail. Which I found surprising because FH works in tech. One commented he felt mailing was "more proper". haha

I'm having paper and online RSVP's. FH was concerned some guests could not handle online.

@ Ashley- with online RSVP's you can add meal selection, and plus 1's. I also added the question of if they have a song request. Lots of customization options.

We're doing online RSVPs. Many of our guests received their invites yesterday and we already have 23 out of 215 RSVPs back!
