Ecofetti/Confetti Toss?

Becca, on January 9, 2013 at 3:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hi everyone, I'm new here! I've been looking around for ideas about what to throw as we walk out of the church. I haven't seen any recent posts so I'm curious as to what you guys have planned for your weddings! My venue doesn't allow birdseed or regular paper confetti, so I've been thinking about going with either bio-degradable confetti (Ecofetti) or bubbles. I'm really trying to go with products that are environmentally friendly, so both these options would work!

I am slightly worried about bubbles staining though. I haven't heard any firsthand stories about this though so I'm not sure if this is a legitimate fear or not? Anyway let me know what you guys think or if you guys have any other ideas!

    Hi Becca,

I am going to go with bubbles because its so much cleaner! I went to a friends that had bird seed...and felt so bad because some people were like pelting them with the seeds! Even if it is bio-degradable confetti most places would probably want you to sweep it up. Bubbles just seem to be the easiest over all! I also think flag/tassle waving can be neat in pictures.

How about flower petals or an herb that you and your FH love?

    Best of luck! Smiley smile

    Hi Becca, welcome to WW!!

I agree, bubbles are cleaner and are less hassle than confetti would be. We went to a wedding last summer and there were bubbles and I didn't hear any stain warnings or complaints so I'm sure it would be safe! You could always ask your dress shop or seamstress if bubbles may stain your dress to see what a pro will say Smiley smile

Don't do confetti if your getting pics afterwards. It will be in your hair and hard to pick out! You won't have time to pick it out anyway Smiley smile How about doing a wand with ribbonns and bells on the end? That would look pretty for pics too!

I think the ribbon wands would look really pretty!

A friend of ours did bubbles and that went over well. Another did sparklers when they left the reception, but guests definitely had to watch where they were waving them.

I've also seen cute little flags that say things like "Yay!" and "Woot!", but you could leave them plain too.

There are lots of fun options!

Love the picture you included @Lucky me! Makes me want to do a ribbon wand!!

@Leeor - I don't know if venues even allow rice tossing anymore! My venue doesn't really allow *anything* to be tossed. Party poopers... haha

@Leeor- A lot of places don't allow rice tosses because of a myth that came about saying that rice expands in a bird's stomach and makes them explode. Everything I've read says that isn't even CLOSE to being true.

    Thanks everyone for your responses!

@Ashley that's a great idea about asking a seamstress about the bubbles staining! I'll ask her at my upcoming fitting and keep you guys all posted : )

@Lucky me, the wands do seem like a really cute idea!

@WWLeeor I think alot of places don't allow rice for alot of reasons, birds being one of them, also they are slippery and harder to clean up.

The problem is I still really like the way rice looks being thrown. I found a biodegradable confetti that is "rice cut." I'm just not too sure how similar looking it would be though.

I found this picture on ecoparti's fb page- it looks like rice but it's biodegradable. I think I'll order samples and go from there, at least I have time to decide!

@Maria D, what are petal cones?

Hi everyone! Thought I would give a quick update on what I was thinking..

I just got a couple different color samples in from Ecoparti and I'm kind of obsessed with the stuff. I ordered both the rice cut and the snow cut because I wasn't too sure of the difference and they both are pretty cool. I think I'm gonna go with the rice cut though because it has the effect I'm looking for when it's thrown. Alsooo it really does biodegrade, definitely good for people trying to keep an environmentally friendly theme!
