Eating at the wedding.

I’ve always heard that brides don’t really get to eat on their wedding day. How true is that? Anyone have a plan in mind so that they actually get to enjoy their wedding food?

I barely ate anything at the reception. Maybe 3-5 bites of food? One bite of cake (the bite my husband gave me). I missed out on the ice cream sadly.
i was so busy talking to everyone. Luckily, my husband and I did all our pictures with the bridal party before the ceremony so we had 45 min to ourselves. The DOC brought us a few appetizers, so I survived off those for the whole night 😂
We got to take home leftovers so I got to enjoy my wedding food for real the next day, and it was still very good microwaved!!!

I don't think that's really true so much as it is "choice". I certainly ate!

So I am a stickler for food. I made sure and will continue to make sure that the bridal party AND us will be served cocktails/apps during pictures/when we are done. And hell yeah I am sitting down and eating. Don't bother me lol. I think it's as true as you make it. If you're scattered all over the place and make thanking every single guest a priority during dinner then chances are you'll forget to eat and get caught up. I don't plan to do so.

We put it in our plan to stop by Chick-fil-A after the ceremony (before the reception), since they're at different locations and we love Chick-fil-Aand it's on the way!

I didn't have this problem at all. I sat down to eat like everyone else. We had a buffet style meal and got our plates first so by the time we were done eating, other people were still eating and we got to mingle then. There was no way I'd miss eating. I figured we'd see everyone else through the rest of the reception. It's not like we could only talk to people while they ate lol We danced and partied after supper

I suppose we should try to eat first and we will be good to go for visiting with everyone.

My fiance just laughed at this and said he'd shovel food down my throat, because that's what will turn me into a bridezilla. Apparently the food is what I'm most excited for. 😂

I don’t care how the day goes but food for me IS A MUST. I am a lot more fun when I’m not hangry. I plan on greeting people during cocktail hour so we can eat when others do.

I could have very easily forgotten to eat. But that's a normal thing for me anyways. We had food going the entirety of the night from appetizers to the main entree. So we could just grab and go... I also had people checking in with us. Often.

At my best friend's wedding, she had a platter sent to the bridesmaid's room during the cocktail hour. That way we (she) could eat something during cocktail hour. She also had a plated meal, so it made it easier for her to sit down and eat.

In my experience, that holds true more for the vendors (photographer especially) where they can't pull away to eat something during their 8 hours of photo-taking.

Every wedding I have ever been to, the bride and groom get served/serve themselves first.
We aren't doing a first look.
If someone wants to come talk to me while I'm eating, I guess I'll be doing a lot of nodding. Because I'm eating. Sucks for those people who dont plan to let me.

From my friends they tell me they barely ate and that is usually what I see at weddings I attend. I hope that will not be the case for me because I want to enjoy the food I bought aha. I joke with my friends like when I go to each table to do greetings I will eat something from every table haha. But I was planning to eat a bit maybe when the dance floor opens or we seem to have a little downtime before the speeches and planned things begin.
Try to enjoy your wedding! A part of that is getting to enjoy the food you chose.

Thank you ladies for the advice . Cause I wan't sure what we was gonna do. Our wedding hasn't happen yet, 83 days and counting down. But I was planning to do what my sister did at her wedding two years ago. My sister and her husband eat during the cocktail hour while in the bridal suite, but they did seat down at the sweetheart table while toast was given to them. I also plan on eating some of that food I paid for it.

I’m worried about this too. I’ve been to weddings where the couple get served their food, but the food gets taken away before they even have a chance to eat.
It’s of particular concern to me because my fiancé gets grumpy when he’s hungry. I even told one of my bridesmaids to order a door dash for me and my fiancé so that we can at least have something to eat later.

We got married last month and I really didn’t get to eat or drink anything at my wedding. I was way too busy. My husband did sneak off with his best friend to eat a bit. After the wedding I finally got some food!

We are doing a first look and bridal party/family photos before the ceremony so we will be attending cocktail hour. i plan on eating during our wedding. the food will amazing and i will be starving lol

if that's not an option for you, our initial plan was to bring a plate of food with us as we went around table by table to talk to our guests.
