ear piercing

Marina, on June 7, 2014 at 8:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So, I just got my ears pieced. Again.

Actually, I had them pierced before, but I didn't wear earrings for a while, so the holes closed up.

I did the piercing at Claire's, and the salesperson told me that I would have to wear the stubs for 6-8 weeks at least (possibly longer if they get infected).

My wedding is in 2 1/2 months. I'm freaking out that I won't get to wear the lovely earrings I bought... :-(

Do not switch them out if they arnt totally healed. That can be terrible for your new piercing and cause an infection. Changing the earrig will cause your ear to swell for a little while anyway. Do you really want red swollen earlobes in your pictures.

As long as they don't get infected you should be able to change them out.

2.5 months is plenty of time. just wait until the day or two before to switch them out. it'll be fine. take good care of them now, clean them, twist them, and keep the earrings in and it should be ok. just dont ever take them out and leave them out or as u know they'll close, and even quicker since theyre new.

I used to work at a place that did ear piercing. This is one area where I truly believe that adults heal faster. For adults generally, it is about 4 to 6 weeks. Just make sure that you are just switching and not leaving earrings out for any period of time, and that the new earrings are cleaned with alcohol before you put them in. I personally have three holes in each ear, two cartilage, have really sensitive metal issues, and changed my second and third holes after three weeks. Just do what you're comfortable with, and you will be fine.

PS Make sure you are cleaning them everyday!

Wash your hands before touching your ears/earrings.

Just take care of them they way you're supposed to, and wash your hands often (as suggested by others), and use metal that's better for sensitive skin. When I had regular pierced ears I used to have to wear gold post earrings because my ears were so sensitive. That's part of the reason I gauged my ears, actually...alternative materials are better for me. You may also want to look into surgical steel or even wood (they do carry some for regular sizes). Bone is also a good choice for some. Etsy has artists who make earrings from all sorts of materials.

Like all the ladies have said, keep your ears clean, and wash your hands before you mess with your ears. I was obsessively cleaning my ears (3x a day and 2x peroxide) and they healed within 4 1/2 weeks. I think you would be able to wear you new earrings for you wedding, I would just be causious if they are heavy or will be pulling on your ears. Don't want bright red ear lobes in pictures! Hope this helps and good luck!
