E-rings w/ small center stones

Cynthia, on October 4, 2017 at 1:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 72

I received the first rude comment on the size of my diamond today. Hearts on Fire (the company that made my engagement ring) shared one of my photos and one fine gentlemen decided to share his thoughtful opinion on the size of my diamond.

I love my small center stone! It's so simple and delicate.

I was just wondering if any of you have received any comments like this and how you responded. (Personally, I was tempted to point out tiny features of his own)

He legit has 7 followers. He can go fly a kite!

Don't worry even "bigger" stones get rude comments. I've gotten "Oh, well we know that can't be real." or my favorite "What's he compensating for?"

Rude/classless people will always find something to say. I think it's so amazing your diamond company shared your picture! That's so amazing! Congrats!!

Don't let others comments bother you, if you love it that's all that matters! Personally I do not think that is small at all! it look gorgeous! I love the hearts on fire collection, my center stone is .25 I think, but I absolutely love it and didn't want anything big!

Thank you! And I'm beyond thrilled with Hearts on Fire. The sparkle on my diamond is so amazing. It makes it seem much bigger than it actually is. To be honest, I wouldn't want anything larger because it would be too bulky.

My FH insisted on getting me the best he could...the center stone is 1.5cts, colorless with one tiny flaw (can't see with naked eye)....and instead of people telling me it's pretty, they often tell me it looks fake!!

Some people will just be jerks no matter what, don't sweat it.

Your ring is beautiful! Don't sweat the small stuff.

When FH and I got engaged, my best friend's mom took a look at my ring and said it reminded her of the fake diamond rings she saw in Vegas. I was appalled at the rude comment. But in the end I said screw it cause I love my diamond and knowing my FH chose it and put thought into it is what matters most to me!

I had a lady interrupt my conversation (to another individual) to gawk at my ring. She asked me if the 2 black stones were onyx to which I replied, "No, they're black diamonds."

"What?! Don't you know that black diamonds are terrible quality and almost as bad as chocolate diamonds?! They are ridiculously overpriced for inferior stones just because of marketing."

"Actually the jeweler gave us an amazing deal on them because they are so unpopular right now - he rarely has anyone ask for black diamonds but I happen to like them." (True story!)

She then noticed the tiny white (pin head size) diamonds in the band, in addition to the center solitaire (inherited from FH's grandmother) and proceeded to whine (not kidding) about how she didn't have *that many diamonds in *her wedding ring! Um...sorry?

I don't think your ring looks tiny at all, I browse the rings every time I take mine to get cleaned and I've definitely seen some with a smaller center stone in a solitaire setting. Mine is actually cut a specific way so it looks larger and you wouldn't believe the number of people that ask if it's real/cz.

My ring doesn't even have diamonds in it! It doesn't matter how big or small or what it's made of, all that matters is your relationship!

Haven't gotten too many negative comments on my London Blue topaz ring aside from "I wasn't sure if it was an engagement ring!" I get that one a bit...it's non-traditional. Definitely don't let it bother you! You're happy and that's what matters

My main stone isn't a diamond, it's tanzanite. I've definitely gotten some judgey looks for it but it's 100% what I wanted. I picked my own ring over a year before we got engaged and now we've been engaged for 6 months and I still catch myself swooning over it.

People will have negative comments no matter what you do, so just do what makes you and FH happy. I agree - I love my ring, but most of what I love about it is the meaning and the man that gave it to me. (And btw my ring looks sort of similar to yours and yours is completely swoon worthy. It's beautiful.)

That is so rude. E-rings are personal and have special meaning for the couple. This person- and anyone who judges ering choices of others- is so out of line.

That's ridiculous... your ring looks big with the outside stones especially, I don't know why anyone would say that. Ignorant man!

Why do you care about a comment from someone you don't know and will never meet?

His comment is rude. Brush it off.
