Hello all,

Does anyone have any experience dyeing shoes? I've had a rough time finding a pair of shoes that I want to wear for the ceremony as I want them to be a dark emerald color to match FH's suit. The first pair I found and loved were released in 2011 and are literally no where to be found anymore (I've searched for probably 5 months). The second pair were a 2017 release by Badgley Mischka, but the emerald color is again no where to be found in my size (8.5).

So, I've been thinking about buying a white/ivory pair and getting them dyed to match a swatch. I've heard of myglassslipper.com, but it looks like they're no longer in business? I've also come across dyeableshoestore.com. Does anyone have any experience with this website? I really don't want to go the DIY route as I don't trust myself to not ruin a pair of shoes and would prefer a professional to attempt this. Any other ideas? First picture is the shoes I first loved, second picture is the Badgley Mischkas.

I grew up showing horses as well! I haven’t tried any shoemakers, but that’s a fantastic idea!

Yep, I may just go to a David’s and see if they can dye a shoe that I bring in.

Thank you, ladies! It looks like I’ll be looking for a shoemaker local to me who may be able to help me. I appreciate all your help on this exhausting search!

That’s fun! I was in Hunterland, so only black and brown leather for me. I always wanted fun colors at least for hacks at home. Haha.

I searched everywhere for that same pair of Green Gucci shoes after I saw them on pinterest. They're gorgeous.

Daughter initially wanted the exact same thing, dark green bridal shoes, except her's needed to be flats since there is barely an inch height difference between her and H. She looked and couldn't find anything. She planned on getting a pair dyed, but then read too many cautions about dyed shoes "bleeding" color if they get wet at all. She didn't want to risk staining her dress in they ended up with a drizzly day or walking across damp grass while doing pictures, etc. If you go with a shoemaker, perhaps talk with them about how they might be able to seal the color to reduce the risk of bleeding. Good luck!

What fantastic advice! Thank you! I'm not too concerned about dampness as you know how dry it normally is here in So Cal in July, but it's definitely a question I'll be looking into if I end up going the dyeing route. Thank you!
