Dyeing my veil - Help!

Kaitlyn, on September 20, 2016 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My wedding is going to be outside, so depending on how windy it is the day of will decide if I wear a veil or not. My SIL has offered to give her her veil. The problem is that her veil is white and I have a two-toned ivory dress. She is totally cool with me dyeing but I'm a bit nervous about it! Has anyone had any luck with this? I'd rather not have to go out and buy a veil that may not get used at all on the day of. Pic added of the veil.

@MrsToBe I haven't seen them together yet. But my dress should be in sometime in November so I will make sure to bring it with and see how it looks. Thank you!

I found an ivory veil on Amazon for $10 bucks and that's what I wore.

The difference between white and ivory is SO slight, I think you'd have a really difficult time dyeing the veil. It'd be SO easy to overshoot and end up with a beige veil. See what the veil looks like with the dress before you worry about it.

I can't personally attest to this BUT I've heard dipping it in tea is an easy way to darken the tone just a little!

I think there are a lot of blogs out there about tea staining veils so you could try that. But I would test it with your dress first, chances are you'd never notice.

Thank you everyone! The bridal salon I bought the dress from had suggested to dye it with tea and it just freaks me out a bit haha

Depending on the material you might not be able to dye it. If it's like nylon the dye won't stick. Maybe they make special dye for that type of fabric but I'm not sure...
