Durable mens wedding band?!

Hannah, on February 15, 2017 at 6:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 37

My fiancé works in construction. What is a good, durable wedding band we should get for him?

Try titanium or cobalt-both are super light weight and incredibly durable. And pretty inexpensive!

Gold is obviously pretty soft and won't work for him at work.. if he really wants a traditional gold band you can get a silicone band for him to wear to work

We just bought fh's ring yesterday and went with titanium because of the durability. I asked the jeweler about tungsten cobalt and was told that it is more brittle and if you drop it it has the potential to break into pieces

We did tungsten carbide. FH is a steam fitter and had to have durable and not magnetic.

Do some research on the attributes that are important to you. Gold is softer, but it can be cut off in case of emergency. Non-traditional metals like titanium or tungsten are really tough to cut. I wouldn't recommend those metals if he works construction for safety reasons.

I've heard titanium isn't good for construction guys because if something happens they can't cut it off. My FH is going with cobalt which is a mix of titanium and a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks for the feedback! My dad's a mechanic and he had a gold band and said it got so worn out it would start slicing into his hand! Trying to avoid that for my FH!

A silicone band may be the safest choice for everyday wear, and he could get a nicer band for special occasions.

I would suggest a qalo ring for work and a nicer one for when you go out. The qalo is made of a flexible material (silicone?) So it will be comfortable to wear and if something were to happen should easily come off his finger.

I agree with the silicone! My FH works in a factory and is around large machinery, he is getting a qalo to wear at work and a gold band to wear otherwise.

I also suggest Qalo. My FH works construction and I'm in healthcare. I've seen way too many ring related injuries to let him wear a metal ring to work.

I've seen many men that work with their hands wear a rubber ring for work and then a white gold ring when they go out or for special occasions

Qalo ring definitely. For safety reasons. FH works construction as well & will be getting a Qalo ring.

Get him a silicone one. I got my FH a pack of 4 for $25 and he wears his real ring when he's not working.

FH is a welder. We got him a cobalt one i think. I would like to get him a silicone one but I'm afraid of it melting and burning him!

FH is an engineer for the railroad. He also has shifts where he is a conductor/switchman. He is getting a cheap ring because it will have to be replaced often. I would go against any ring that cannot be cut by an EMT as they could possibly take his finger if there was an emergency.

A good idea is a rubber band. tungsten you can NOT cut off. so in case of an emergency in construction that wouldn't be wise. titanium and cobalt are both scratch resistant.

Tungsten CAN be broken off in the case of an emergency.

We went with Tungsten for FH because it's durable and he likes the look of it.
