Dueling Pianos

Kaitlyn, on December 5, 2013 at 12:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Anyone been to any events or more specifically any weddings where there were dueling pianos (i.e. Howl 2 Go by Howl at the Moon)? I'm thinking about doing this for my wedding and I'd love to get some feedback.

I love them! So much fun! I booked 176 Keys Fun Pianos for my reception.

Do you happen to have any video I could watch? I tried looking on YouTube, but it was all the promotional stuff, dubbed over...

I love dueling pianos!! But I'm not sure about at a wedding. It might take away from the celebration of the couple IMHO. But it's your wedding!

This is what the FH originally wanted and I was on board.... Until we started getting quotes back. Although it would have been amazing and made the night even more memorable it just wasn't worth the price (and we couldn't afford it anyway)

I love dueling pianos too! There's a bar/restaurant here that has two grand pianos and does a show 2-3 times a week. We originally wanted this for our wedding, but when we talked with the musician, he recommended that it's hard to get a dance vibe going with just the two pianos. So we decided to go with one of the pianists (also does vocals), backed up by drums and bass. I'm really excited!

Sounds fun - DH and I went to a piano bar on our first date. We had a great time. However, at our wedding I know our guests wanted to dance. The dance floor was packed. The pianos might be fun for a cocktail hour, but all night would be a bit much I think.

I've been to a wedding that had dueling piano's and it was really fun! It was not as fun as going to a bar with dueling piano's (I've been to one in Myrtle Beach and one at the National Harbor) they definitely were more subdued in the joke telling and playing the crazy/fun songs. But I think that's due to the bride's instructions.

I've been to a few dueling pianos bars, and oh my gosh, they are the most fun ever! I've never been to a wedding with one but personally I would love something like that. Your only consideration might be what type of crowd you'll have -- whether they'll be happiest sitting listening, or if they'd be happier dancing.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE duelling pianos! So much fun! I'm not having them only due to budget. I've been to one wedding that had them and it was a blast. There is also place in my city that has them all the time- The Red Piano. I'll probably have my staggette there.

I'm having dueling pianos and am super excited about it. They're very flexible in terms of what they play. They told us they can either come up with it all on their own or we can make a specific list of songs we want (which is what we decided to do). They obviously won't do the raunchy jokes/songs you hear in dueling piano bars, but I think they'll make the atmosphere more lively and encourage more dancing. I'm also piggy-backing off the two baby grand pianos for my general theme/vibe by doing chandeliers overhead (we're getting married outside) and requesting cocktail attire. Just seemed like the baby grand pianos made everything a little fancier.
