Dry Shampoo during hairstyling

OregonEmily, on July 17, 2014 at 11:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Some of you may remember my post about my hair trial. The hair stylist said my hair was too clean and healthy to style easily and suggested that I not wash my hair for a day or two. But after 24 hours, I'm a total grease ball.

I tried dry shampoo while camping last weekend and it worked amazingly well. 3 days with no shower and my hair wasn't greasy at all. With dry shampoo, my hair has a slightly courser texture. I think that would help hold a hairstyle. My hair is normally super silky/slippery and just falls out of hair styles.

Would dry shampoo be ok to use during my wedding? Or would it react badly with the saltwater spray or hairspray that they use? What do you think?

Dry shampoo is basically aerosolized (sp?) baby powder with fragrance. It shouldn't react any differently than any other product.

It should be totally fine. i'd even talk with her about it, ive used it in clean hair to help with teasing and texture for updos.

I have hair like yours and my hairstylist added something like dry shampoo to my hair during my trial to "dirty it up".

I would recommend Tresemme dry shampoo for the texture. I use dry shampoo a bit because my roots are oily but my ends are dry - so I can't really wash my hair daily. Of the dry shampoos, Tresemme seems to thicken/add stuff to the hair well enough to tease. Some of the others soften, but this one doesn't. It's great.

I have very fine, oily hair that I HAVE to wash every day or it is horrible. My hair stylist used a lot of dry shampoo on my roots while styling my hair, like you said, it makes it feel a little thicker/coarser. I would definitely recommend it, it helps a lot with teasing.

You'll be fine! My hair is like yours so I washed it the day of the wedding. My hair stylist also put some stuff in it to dirty it up, so I would have been just fine if I had used dry shampoo instead of washing it (I was out of dry shampoo though).

Personally, my favorite dry shampoo is Rockaholic. It's a bit more pricy, but a little goes a long way and I love the scent. Plus, it doesn't leave the white crap in my hair and the texture is good for styling afterwards. It was originally recommended to me by a hair stylist friend. Here's the link to it so you know what I'm talking about Smiley smile (By the way- it's not only available at Ulta, I just happen to shop there.)

Dove or Tresemme dry shampoos are the best for their price points and work really well. Definitely will help!

This is good information! I've always been wary of dry shampoo! Thanks!
