Druid/Wiccan/Handfasting Weddings, Anyone?

-, on November 28, 2012 at 2:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I'm a Druid and my fiance is a Wiccan, We plan on having a Handfasting and jumping the broom kind of wedding. If you have any ideas on how to go about on planning the ceremony, and/or give advice on how to incorporate the two religions together, please help us!! Thank you!!

We're doing the handfasting ceremony too as part of a tribute to our Celtic heritage. Smiley smile Granted, ours is Star Wars themed because we couldn't get anyone else to wear a kilt..... but it's still something. And it will be very different from the traditional "I Do" vows. This is the example I found and liked: http://wedding.lifetips.com/tip/21551/wedding-ceremony/vows/handfasting-vows.html Smiley smile

I'm Wiccan & my FH is on the fence pagan, in between Dianic & celtic pagan. We are just doing a plain handfasting, a mix of our beliefs in it, & easy enough for our christian friends/family to understand. I would start by finding a High Priest/Priestess in your area, have a consult find out if they can meet your needs for your religious beliefs. If you need a website to start with, www.witchvox.com is very resourcefull

Certainly begin with a good, qualified, minister that has an understanding of your individual paths. That individual should be able to meet with you, gain an understanding of your specific desires for the ceremony, and then work with you to make it a great day.

I am considering doing this as well and I am neither celtic, druid, or wiccan. We are not doing rings, I don't like the sand or candle ceremony, but I want some sort of ceremonial kind of thing. So I think we may adopt the tradition. Still learning about it.
