Dropped makeup person and possible photographer

Gabrielle, on June 11, 2019 at 5:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hey, so recently went through some drama with my makeup artist for my wedding so my FH and i decided to have her not do my makeup (still a good ways out, so no big deal). But because i dropped her, i had to drop my photographer who basically partners with her, and technically wasnt my photographer yet (did not drop any payments or anything) so to me it isnt a big deal. what are some ideas on having a photographer that is inexpensive? i might be able to have a professional photographer if i can get a job and pay for everything. has anyone done the whole "buy the walmart disposable cameras, have guest take pics, develop them, have those pictures as wedding pics"?

Honestly, buying disposable cameras and then the cost of developing them is almost as expensive as hiring a photographer for a few hours and you’re not guaranteed to get any usable photos. See if any local photography students could do it, or check with photographers to see if you could do just a few hours instead of the whole day.

I would check on thumbtack.com for a photographer.

As Jessica said check thumbtack! Additionally, I know people suggest to find grad/undergrad students who need to build their portfolio. They may not have wedding experience but if they have great photos and a good eye already (and some decent editing skills) that could be a fairly inexpensive route! I would also just shop around! I have found photographers as low as $1,000. I don't know what your budget is but yes definitely shop around. This is a good time as you are a year away, you have quite some months still to lock down a photographer.
