Drinkware

futuremrsbacon, on December 28, 2016 at 5:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

What is everyone doing for the drink ware? I was doing engraved stemless wine glasses but everyone on here seems to be against it because they would also be favors for guests. Although I would have other favors as well.

Just trying to get other ideas.

I have two engraved stemless wineglasses from two weddings this past year. They're in the "donation" pile.

Does your caterer or venue provide the drinkware?

Nothing engraved with your name/date on it. No one wants drinkware with your information on it..but you Smiley winking FH and I bought glass beer mugs from the dollar tree & we're going to paint different designs on them (to match our theme) we're not including our date/name/location. Our guests are welcome to take them home too. It's a lot of work but we're artsy & up for the extra task! Smiley smile

Neither my caterer or venue provide drinkware. I'm just trying to figure out the best option. My cousin was actually the one who gave me the idea for the engraved glasses, I didn't even think of it.

I was going to say rent, but I think you'll be responsible for cleaning them.

I'd just go to the dollar store, buy cheap drink ware, and let people take it home if they want to. If they don't, wash them and donate them. But that would still require washing.

It's not a bad idea, just a wasteful one. It's the mere fact of whether your guests will truly use them forever. I like to purchase my glasses in pairs, and would prefer to receive them that way. Can you rent drinkware? I'm sure it's cheaper than personalizing them.

You can do drinkware as a favor, but just don't engrave them if you want guests to use them again. You can attach a cute card with your names on them and a short thank you note. Alternatively (depending on how formal your wedding is), you may be able to get custom chalkboard stickers that you could put your names and date on that guests could remove later if they didn't want that in their glasses. Then provide chalk pens so guests can keep track of their drink

Yeah, as a guest that would go straight in the trash as I walked out the door. I wouldn't even take it home.

Personalized glasses are a big no for me.
