Drinking sections in the RSVP

FutureMrsNoel, on May 15, 2013 at 11:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

We are having a outdoor BBQ wedding, no bartender but alcohol. We are getting beer, and i am making mixed drink and putting them in 3 gallon pitchers with the spout. I would like to include something in the RSVP that will ask the guest what they will be most likely to drink out of 3-4 choices so i know how much to purchase of the alcohol. Is this a good idea and how would i word it?

Idk if I would include the choices on the RSVP. To help you estimate how much to have/make, there are websites where you can put the number of people, whether they are heavy/light drinkers, and the type of alcohol that you will have and the website will tell you what you should buy.

This sounds like it belongs on the website.

Yea I agree, I think that's a weird question to put on an RSVP. Why don't you tell us what you're thinking of, and then you'll get a general sense of what people are more likely to drink

They will drink whatever is provided. Choose what you like best and nobody will complain!

I don't think I'd know my drink preference 8 weeks beforehand. I imagine you'll get a lot of people writing in their own suggestions, too. I'd just use one of those online beverage calculators.

I'm with Buffee, provide what you can and they'll drink it and be grateful.

Pick some standard drinks, use the calculator and be done with it. I'm sure you'll get tons of different answers and then you'll be stuck as to what to pick. I agree with Buffee, people will drink what's available!

It will be beer of my fiances choice, my favorite drink of peach schnapps and oj, and his mixed drink of choice. Then an additional. We know that mostly everyone we are inviting drinks basically what we drink so them not knowing wont be a issue. It is just deciding on how much i need is the issue. I myself think 3 gallons of each drink should be plenty! People aren't there to get trashed so I know they wont get crazy with drinking. As far as placing that on the website, We have A LOT of people who hate going on the computer or they are older and just do not have one. I wouldn't want it on there.

Then do 3 gallons of each drink. When it's gone, it's gone, people can switch to water or whatever. You're being a gracious host by providing what you can already. Smiley smile

Then i will just forget about even providing that info! You gals are right, they should be happy I'm even having the drinks there. It just got me thinking after my FH was just recently in a wedding and the Bride and Groom had a ton of alcohol left over and now have to figure out what to do with it all. I just didn't want to waste money! Thank you Smiley smile

Even better... maybe you could take that leftover alcohol off their hands!

I love that RSVP card. I could get behind something like that. Not for a formal wedding maybe, but that's fun.

I wouldn't ask, people drink what is available. But ask your BP what they think would be a good selection. You might discover that some people only drink wine coolers. Take a small survey, because if you give people a choice they'll expect it.

It's a cute rsvp, but I wouldn't get into it. Buy what you buy, they'll drink it and when you run out, they'll drink something else.

You should make the decisions and they can deal with what is offerred. Don't create more complications for yourself than you absolutely have to.

Wine coolers won't be needed mostly everyone I know drinks beer or the jack an coke. My bridesmaids will drink my drink for sure. It wasn't to let them pick the drink of there choice, it was to see how much they plan to drink out of the decisions we decide on. If you don't like any of those drinks then oh well lol. Those RSVP are very cute were doing something similiar but didn't have the drink chart! I think I may skip it all together! If I ask they may think ill be provided a truck load of drinks and I'm not!
