Drink Glass vision help

Tiffani, on August 29, 2019 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

First off- my wedding is an outdoor very green/tropical style venue- all outdoor with palm trees banana leaf trees but also has a fire pit and some casual accents. I found these pretty stemless glasses online at the dollar tree and ordered about 50 so far.

We want to have the following drink options:

1. White and red wine

2. Keg of beer

3. Keg of cider (brides favorite)

Our wedding overall is going to be on the nicer side in terms of decor, long dresses, linen table cloths etc so I think that the classy move would be to get the nicer clear glasses. BUT we are also fun people and I love a good Solo cup so I think we should get silver solo cups like these:

Annnnd these are the wine glasses if you chose wine:

Is that an awkward combo? The decor is mostly blue tones and boho with some silver accents.

My FW also thinks that the glass will be problematic cause they will get left everywhere and we will have to figure out what to do with them after the wedding. Any insight from people who purchased glasses would be helpful.

THANKS!

Are the wine glasses actual glass? I’ve seen disposable wine glasses that look like that too. I love the silver solo cup!

If the wedding is more formal I wouldn’t do solo cups. Can you rent real glasses?

Yes they are! They are from the Dollar tree so a dollar a piece and are actually cheaper than the plastic wine glasses I could find!

I recommend staying away from solo cups, those wont fit your formal theme. Have you though about serving bottled beer instead? This eliminates the need for beer cups.
I agree that your setting would typically have real wine glasses. Cam you rent them? That's what we ended up doing. Most people who drink nice wine will want a real glass....whereas beer drinking dont care as much.

If you go the plastic cup route I would look at the nicer clear glasses. Something like this Clear Plastic Cups | 9 Ounce. - 200 Pack | Hard Disposable Cups | Plastic Wine Cups | Plastic Cocktail Glasses | Plastic Drinking Cups | Plastic Party Punch Cups | Bulk Party Cups | Wedding Tumblers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CX3TN9V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UsbADbWK5TP64

These are popular when serving wine outdoors.

Those are almost exactly what I plan on using for our wine! I also definitely second bottled beer instead of a keg. They're relatively the same price (depending on the beer), the bottles we're getting are actually cheaper, plus we don't have to worry about setting up the keg and everything.

We used real wine glasses, bottled beer, and cans of soda....our wedding was on the semi casual side. Sun dresses and boots.
We also bought personalized koozies so the condensation from the drinks wouldn't make a mess...they also doubles as favors! Even the wine drinkers took some home.

Also forgot to mention that yes, bottled beer worked better for us. No messing around d with setting up the keg, can purchase different kinds of beer, and you get to keep the leftovers.

I really like those glasses but am not a fan of the solo cup if you want a classier look to the wedding. I would also suggest bottled beer or maybe clear plastic from Costco? We found our for a good price on Amazon.

If the wine ones are glass (or a nice plastic) you could put your guys' initials on them and have them as wedding gifts to the guests

You could let guests take any wine glasses (as many as they like to make a set) home at the end of the night or donate them.
I do suggest clear plastic for both. 9oz and 16oz if your doing wine and kegs. Bottled beer would be preferable.

Love the wine glasses! I would also get bottles. When I spoke to the bartending company that we hired, she said kegs are usually a huge pain with: foam, keeping beer cold, and cleanup. She recommended we do cans or bottles. We decided to do bottles and order personalized koozies.

No solo cups. For a simple solution, beer bottles work. Soda/juice/water could go in the glasses! If you wanna do the kegs I would look into renting or finding a regular beer glass! Don' be so quick to do the dollar store btw for bulk items! I know $1 per is tempting, but if ordering in bulk many times there are websites in which you get each glass for cents rather than a full dollar.

Check out barproducts.com (this is where I am getting my shot glasses for guests). This website is for all consumers not just bartenders/restaurants.
