Dress too short!

brieliz, on September 14, 2016 at 8:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

So my dress came in and I went yesterday to try it on. The store said they would order it 5 inches shorter so I could wear a 2-3 inch heel and not have to pay for the hem myself, which sounded great because there is lace details at the bottom. So I'm putting on the dress...and it was at my ankles with the 3 inch heels I bought. Took off my shoes and it just touched the floor... Looks like I'm wearing flats for the wedding! Has this happened to anyone else? The store seemed very nonchalant about it. Pic is where the dress lands with a kitten heel on.

You probably will be more comfortable in flats. Just get cute ones!

Honestly flats are more comfortable anyway. My dress came in with the liner under my lace just a little too short. It wasn't flush with the bottom of the lace. I was frustrated, but it was so close to my wedding there wasn't anything I could do.

So I know your bummed, but your lucky. My store doesn't offer this and my dress is like 5 inches too long. It's going to cost me so much to get it hemmed because I plan on wearing flats and my dress has 4 layers on the bottom. I don't have a picture right now. Maybe I can post one later. I am not a girly girl and never wear heels so why would I try on my wedding day. I don't want to be uncomfortable.

Could you thin out the petticoat a bit?

I think the length looks fine with the kitten heels!

Pretty dress. You made a right decision to order is short as those lace details are gorgeous.

You look good with the kitten heels so I wouldn't sweat it. I would leave a constructive review for the store.

Looks perfect w/the kitten heels - and you'll probably be thankful you're wearing lower heels by the end of the night anyways.

Just think of the fact that it won't be dragging on the ground all night! Looks great!

Thanks everyone =) i agree I think I can get away with the kitten heel. I just wanted to see if it was normal for the shop to not be worried at all...when I put the dress on with the 3 inch heels they were just like "oh too high of a heel" and I was panicking what would happen if I took those shoes off and it was still way too short. But it looks good with a flat/kitten heel so I guess I just need to exchange my shoes =) it was just weird to me that she didn't seem worried even when I'm staring at it at my ankles lol.

I'm like surprised you'd want three inch heels. I wish I could. I love the dress!

Looks perfect! While I understand your concern about the nonchalance of the sales associate, this may all be a blessing in disguise. I've heard so many ladies complain about their feet after the wedding (especially if they wore heels).

Looking at the picture I THOUGHT you were the chick in the background and I was thinking "wow! That really is too short!"

What the heck is going on back there lol

Flats will be more comfy at least

I wish mine came in shorter. I'm wearing heels so I wouldn't have to get the hem fixed. I'd much rather wear flats.
