Dress shopping without buying

Christina, on May 29, 2019 at 10:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
We aren’t getting married for quite some time, but I have the urge to go try on dresses! I don’t want to choose a dress right now then regret it later, so it will be a few more months before I choose “the one”. So is it okay to go try some on get a idea of what I do and don’t like? Or shouldn’t I just wait a few more months when I’m ready to commit?

Go for it! My mom lives in a different state so when I went to visit her we went dress shopping just to have that experience together and I ended up finding the one! It was last May when I got it and I don't get married until June 2020. I was worried about dress regret but I don't have it and still love it!

I went to davids bridal to try on styles, not dresses per say. I had no intention of ever buying my wedding dress from them, and never will, that is why I chose there, to figure out what I liked on myself and don't, so in november when I go to the actual store I am shopping at, I have a better idea on what I want now!

Honestly what Brooke said is a good idea, go to a large chain and try them on for style, color, ect, get ideas. Take photos, take the ideas and photos with you when you buy

I went to "try on styles" 13 months before my wedding and ended up falling in love and purchasing my dress. I had no intentions of buying that day but couldn't deny it once I knew I found the one. 24 days out now and I love it even more than I did that day!

It's totally fine to try on dresses now and make a final decision later! This way you have time to think and make sure you're making the right decision Smiley smile

I did this! I went to try on dresses to find what style I liked. i ended up finding "the one"...

I think it's risky if you aren't actually ready to purchase. There is a chance you will end up in a situation like me haha. I felt guilty after because I didn't have my bridal party with me... but looking back it was a great experience with just my mom, and I didn't want to miss out on the dress.

I went to two salons 13 months out, then another 10 months out. I took a TON of pictures and tried on as many as I could. I thought I found "the one" but waited because I wanted to go to a few more shops. I'm glad I waited, I found a better dress at the third shop. But I'm not the kind of "fall in love & cry when I find the right dress" person so it was easy for me to leave without buying one.

You’re not overly too far out. You have leisure time to go to several shops & study the photos you take. Try not to order more than a year before your wedding if you can help it.
