Most of the dresses I liked were in a size too small for me to try on. Actually 2 dresses I specificlly came for! On top of that I had to try on size 14 dresses! Not to mention nothing looked good on me, the dresses were heavy and overwhelming. Can anyone relate? I thought it was going to be fun and magical....not!! Smiley sad

Sweetie, not only am I a plus size, I have just about the broadest shoulders than anyone I know, that includes men and women. this is the way genetics made me. :/

don't blame yourself! bridal dresses are really hard when it comes to trying to find the right fit.

I'll share a story that I hope makes you feel better-

a store in my area that has a bridal boutique had a Vera Wang trunk show. so many were excited to try on Vera Wang dresses.

Vera Wang went them only size 4 dresses, and girls that were normally a size 2 couldn't get into them! I don't know what the size would have been in street size- -6? sales girl told me girls were crying it was so nuts.

it's not just you, I think that just about anyone can have a heck of a time with finding the right fit in bridal.

I would call around and ask places what sort of sizes they have available for you to try on, then go from there. hang in there, it will be ok Smiley smile

Totally had the same experience on Sunday. I wear a 10 or 12 normally. She kept bringing me size 8 samples and told me to HOLD THEM UP IN FRONT OF ME. Um what? Ugh, it pissed me off. The one sample I could get into was a size 16W which blew my mind, but I was kind of prepared from reading posts on here. I DID NOT have a good experience and it was totally discouraging. I made an appointment for a boutique that is geared towards plus size brides (size 12-32) so at least I can try on samples. I explained the issues that I was having with my butt and hips getting into those dresses, she laughed and said she gets that a lot and she is more than prepared and understanding. I am looking forward to this weekend.

Some evil designer decided that bridal sizes should run smaller than your actual size. Completely backward if you ask me. Pretty much any other piece of clothing I don't mind and don't look at the size, but seriously for bridal gowns it should run larger! Also bridal shops must stop ordering samples in tiny sizes. The average woman is not a size 6!

ETA: That's the one plus about David's Bridal and places like that, they have multiple sizes of each dress so you can at least get close to your actual size, regardless of the number on the tag.

I pulled so many dresses I loved just to find out I wouldn't fit. If they had bigger sizes I think I could have found my dress there. If I owned a boutique I would carry sizes more people can fit in. I'm not buying a dress because it looked nice when I held it up in the mirror lol
