Dress Shopping Entourage

KGdovin, on October 7, 2015 at 11:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

After reading online tips I am a tad nervous. I have been dress shopping once with just my mother and now I am planning my second attempt. I have had a lot of my family and bridesmaids express how they want to go dress shopping with me. I am not worried about their opinions clouding my decision making but I am worried about the sales people. Yesterday I invited 7 people to go with me on the second attempt (My mother, step mother, Aunt, Maid of Honor, Matron of Honor and 3 bridesmaids) To be honest this is cutting out a lot of people ( I have a large close-knit family and 9 bridesmaids). Here is my dilemma, I am worried that the stores and or sales people will be upset or act negatively towards my large entourage....moving forward from here I will probably dress shop with just my mother, MOH, and Matron of Honor. I just didn't want to leave anyone out. Has anyone had any experience with this or any advice?

When I went shopping I brought three people. My FMIL, My Aunt (who is a second mother to me), and my cousin. I didn't want too many cooks in the kitchen. I also wanted people who would be honest, but not discouraging.

While there I saw a bride with at least 7 people. She had on "the dress". I say this because she was standing tall and beaming. However, she had too many cooks in the kitchen. They talked her out of the dress and confused her more. I felt bad for the poor girl.

That's a big group for sure! The most I ever went with was 3 people. My recommendation for shopping with that many people is to make the first appointment of the day so the store will be less busy.

I brought my mom, 3 bridesmaids, and 1 friend! I loved having them there! You are planning to have a large group which can be hard because there will be so many opinions. How vocal is this group you are taking?

I am in the same boat. I am taking my mom, grandmother, Matron of Honor (Sister), and my MOH. I invited my soon to be sister in law to stop by one of my appointments because we are the lsat appointment of the day so I figure it won't be nearly as busy. If I go to any other shops it will just be my original four.

I just took my mom to most of the stores. When I was down to two dresses, I brought my two MOH for another opinion.

Thanks you everyone for your responses! I'm feeling a lot better. To be honest I know the people going will help me feel more confident and they know what I'm looking for. I am going to go big this once but will schedule it early morning on a weekday :-)
