Dress Shopping Entourage - Who to Include?

I'm still a ways off from dress shopping, but as I've thought more and more about it, I have to ask - Who do you take dress shopping with you? Will your bridal party be in attendance? What about your mother, grandmother, or mother-in-law? What do you envision your dress shopping experience to be...

I took my maid of honor, two bridesmaids, my stepdaughter and two family members.
But mostly I took the people who had been the most supportive.

I went while on vacation visiting my friend (and future MOH). The appt was supposed to be to look at options for HER dress, but ended up finding mine too. I think not having any specific ideas on what I wanted worked in my favor.

I can't even remember, I think I brought my mom & grandma, both sisters-in-law, and maybe one close friend. As a former bridal shop employee, I will say be careful who you bring or how many people you bring!! It depends how strong you are in your opinions and how capable you are of standing your ground when multiple people disagree with you on an emotional decision.

Make no mistake, many many people who tag along for dress shopping seem to be under the impression that they're there to "help" pick out the dress (ie: talk you out of dresses they dont like, or try to talk you into dresses you aren't feelin, but they love). One of the most unsatisfied customers I remember (it's been years, and I still remember her), we altered her dress exactly how she specified, and she walked into her final fitting with a huge chip on her shoulder, and the second she put the dress on, started insisting we ruined it. We tried to "fix" it, and when she came back the third time, the truth came out... She didn't even want that dress; she had loved a different one, but her family talked her into this one. Didn't excuse her attitude towards the seamstresses, but definitely shed light on why she was really unhappy.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just throwin a little caution to the wind! Don't bring TOO many people, as it can easily turn into chaos, and you will end up confused. If you know someone who, despite how much you love them, tends to push their own opinions quite relentlessly, maybe don't bring them until AFTER you've decided on the dress. On the other hand, if you have a friend that has your back no matter what, bring them. You may need them lol.

I'll be bringing my best friend (MOH), my future mother in law and my FH's step mom, since my mom passed away last year. Too many opinions gets me all flustered and it's already such an emotional ordeal.
