Dress Regret

Alright ladies...I’m having my third bout of dress regret. I keep going back and forth with this and I have no idea what to do. Alright ladies...I’m having my third bout of dress regret. I keep going back and forth with this and I have no idea what to do. I am almost exactly 5 months out (our date is 1/25/20), so I’m sure finding a new dress will be difficult, but not impossible. My dress and cathedral veil are expected to arrive in November, so I know I can’t wait until then to keep looking if that’s what I decide to do. I think my biggest issue is I want more poof (should’ve gone for a ball gown, not to a line). What would you suggest...go to a few stores and try some more on? Also thinking I chose the wrong veil (the veil I chose is the one in the last picture, not pictured with my dress). Or stick with what I have and hope a seamstress can give me what I’m looking for? Has anyone had luck with bridal shops working with you after signing a final sale contract? Attached photos are my current dress
any advice will be appreciated!!

That dress is amazing and you look great! you can ask the seamstress to add a poofy skirt underneath to give you the poofy effect you're looking for

Your bodice is separate from the skirt (not that they're separates, but it's sewn at the waist). You have a ton of skirt. Ask about adding a horse air lining or hoop skirt. Those will give you poof without adding even more layers.

And!I think your veil doesn't need to *match* the dress. It's beautiful and, as a cathedral length, will be very impactful. No one is going to compare the two like you will. I wouldn't worry AT ALL about that. Again, it's totally what you want. If you can afford to pay the rush fees AND get a new dress, go for it. But it's really beautiful on you

Horsehair. Not horse air. That would be gross.

Date Twin!! Your dress is gorgeous and so is that veil. I too had dress regret but when I put my dress back on it went away. I just recently purchased my veil and after getting home and looking at pictures I thought the one I didn’t get looked better in photos. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You can add a pouty skirt underneath or see if your seamstress can add layers. I bought a trumpet petticoat to help mine be more dramatic. If the veil doesn’t match when you get it, you can purchase another. David’s bridal has most in stock in store and they don’t take that long to ship if you find something online. If November comes and you decide you don’t like your dress you can always see about buying a sample dress off the rack since it’s so close.

Wow! Both the dress and the veil are stunning!! To get more poof out of the skirt, you could wear one of those underskirts--a crinoline I think it's called. That could poof the whole thing right out.

I think you look beautiful in your dress! I agree with PPs that a seamstress could add petticoats to give you the ballgown look

I think all you need is a petticoat. There are several different kinds and sizes that could give you the poof you are looking for.

Wow. That dress is gorgeous. But if it’s not your vision talk to a seamstress and see what she can do. Worst case scenario you can start looking at boutiques, but you’re very unlikely to get any money back so I’d look at solutions for the current dress.

I agree with trying a hoop skirt or other crioline.

What exactly are you not liking about the dress and veil? Looking at the pictures, both the dress and the veil are absolutely stunning!! Personally, I wouldn’t change anything about either! If you want more poof in the skirt, just put a crinoline skirt under it!

Your dress and veil are beautiful! Try to remember what you felt when you said “yes!” to the dress. There is so much time in between the purchase and the big day, it leaves room for a million questions and “what if’s” (I am on my 2nd dress and still anxious so I’m speaking from a similar place). We torture ourselves for months trying to get the perfect day, and the reality is, when your partner sees you come down that aisle, the last thing that is going to be on their mind is “hmm, I would’ve hoped for more poof”. You look beautiful, the day will be beautiful, spend the next 4 months continuing the growth and development of your union. Hope this helps :-)

You look amazing! Also, your wedding date is the same as mine! I'm having regrets about my dress as I thought I always wanted sleeves, and mine does not. I also never expected to like a sweetheart neckline, as never wear stuff like that. I'm actually going to the shop today to look at veils and the dress again. I'm so nervous I won't like it anymore. You look stunning and I hope you are happy with the end result!

Thank you, Chrysta! For one, I definitely want more poof. I've been searching online and looking and pics of with/without petticoats/extra crinoline and I think that may be an option for me to obtain the extra poof. I'm starting to think I don't like the amount of cleavage it shows as I am busty...but I'm hoping when I have the dress in my size, it will not be as revealing. There was one that I tried on at the first shop that I went to that was sparkly, strapless, just the right amount of poof, and had a sweetheart neckline that I cannot stop thinking about. The only thing I didn't like was there was nothing special about the back.

Hi date twin!! You look beautiful, your dress is very flattering on you. Wishing you luck today!! What type of veil do you think you are going for? Your veil might complete the dress for you!

Thank you! Smiley heart I think a HUGE part of it is that I know I can't try it on again as they took it off the floor. However, my salon also has a sample studio that sells dresses off the rack. I'm thinking that's where my sample went when they discontinued it. I'm thinking of calling there to see if I can try it on.

Hi pal! Thanks! I'm envisioning a long veil actually. I want to go all out for that! I hope you're right. I think I need to put the dress on again and I'll feel better. But I'll also ask about sleeves. Are you staying with this dress?
