Dress ordering from China

Brittany, on October 29, 2016 at 3:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I saw the most beautiful dress but it's from a vendor in China has anyone ordered from overseas any wedding gowns? I'm not here for negative comments.. I could care less if you wouldn't buy from China if you have never. I would like to interact with women who actually have.

I bought s dress from JJ's House and it was awesome! Not the most amazing quality but I'm having lining added. Please excuse the tummy. I have 9 months to lose it! Lol!

My friend bought her wedding dress from China. She loved it, but everyone else thought it looked cheap and plasticy. It didn't fit her well at all.

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses off etsy from china. They are amazing. But they store had 2000 positive reviews with pictures from real people. Definitely do your research first.

Is there a brand name for the dress? I would be more concerned with that. I ordered a Justin Alexander, from a bridal salon and it shipped from china. So, I don't think coming from china is odd- it's more about quality of the name.

Some people here have had good luck with China made dresses, but my couples have not. (And of course there is the ripping off of intellectual property, but no one seems to care about that). We had to sew an entire bridal party into their dresses before they walked down the aisle and one of my other bride's dress was literally a child size.

I would be very, very careful about this; maybe try consignment/resale/sample sales first?

You could also try looking at Bridesmaid dresses that can be made in white and ivory, there is a bride the got a Hayley Paige Occasions dress and it is phenomenal,

If you're going to risk it, I'd definitely have a back up dress lol

You run the risk of quality not being good and it not looking like you expect. Also returning it may not be possible due to their policies. Buyer beware!

I ordered a formal dress from China and it ended up being too tight (even though they were sent my measurements) and the beading on it was falling off all over the place.

My brother ordered my dress from China the day after I picked it because he got overexcited at how cheap it was. Well, a week later my dress went down to $100 from some kind of glitch in the system online and I of course ordered the real thing at that price! We were kind of excited to see the difference between the two side by side and thought maybe we could make a veil and the flower girl's dress from the knockoff one. He decided to try and cancel the order but now he can't get his money back and the website and seller are both giving him the runaround even though he's following all their procedures and canceling it because it did not ship in time... I have a friend who got her dress from China and it was gorgeous. I think it is hit or miss. I will definitely post side by sides if we get the one from China alongside my dress.

My friend got a gorgeous dress that was previously worn. I would go that route. I have had bad luck ordering from China

I would probably never do it.

    1) they rip off designs and stuff from other people on occasion.

    2) you can't try it on before purchase.

For my wedding dress, I would want to touch/feel/inspect quality before getting it.

I would try going to different sales first. David’s Bridal has a $99 wedding dress sale almost all the time! If it's the price you are concerned about, there are other options.

I personally wouldn't take the risk of not knowing if it'll go well, or be a total disaster..
