Dress on a budget

Hebeos is a Chinese site that sells knockoff dresses. The photos on their site are from other designers, and a seamstress recreates a copy of that dress. Sometimes it looks the same, sometimes it looks nothing like the original and is of extremely poor quality. You'd have to decide going into it whether you're willing to take that risk.

Azazie is an option for very affordable dresses and is very reputable.

I am going to highly suggest staying away from this site. It is most definitely a Chinese knock off company, and they are notorious for sending some of the worst quality dresses you can imagine, which look next to nothing like the (stolen) photos they put on their website. Not only do they score an “F” with the Better Business Bureau, there are actually entire sites, message boards and forums dedicated to people who have had nightmare experiences with this company. I will echo Stacey’s suggestion of Azazie. You should also check for sample sales, annual and holiday sales at bridal boutiques. I know there is a large bridal store close to where I live that has a huge sample sale every year where are you can get $2000 dresses for $200-500. Also, there are a lot of special event, evening and prom dresses that look like wedding dresses.

Agree with the others. Try Azazie or Amazon. You can look for white formal gowns instead of wedding gown to save money.

Www.cocomelody.com also has some affordable options, and is a reputable company with quality dresses

I went to David's and got a bridesmaids dress in ivory for $100 (annoyed face was at my sister for taking forever!) I absolutely LOVE this dress!

My sister-in-law ordered 2 ballgown type dresses from them for her wedding in February. She said they weren’t bad but not as she expected in person. But the bigger issue was they took like 6 weeks to ship when it was supposed to be 4, & when she tried to return them they wouldn’t allow her to because there was nothing wrong with them, which she said was not in line with their return policy. So she ended up going to David’s Bridal & finding a ballgown dress on sale for a few hundred & disputing the charges from Hebeos lol. Shops often have holiday sales, so I would check David’s & also ask about their off the rack selections. Another friend of mine got hers off the rack from David’s for 200

Echoing everyone else here - DON'T DO IT!! I have experience working with dresses from JJHouse and Lightinthebox, and they are pretty reputable, you just REALLY need to measure yourself rather than randomly selecting a size. If you just want a super simple gown, look for mother of the bride or bridesmaid dresses that come in white. Another option for a simple gown would be to find a seamstress who would be able to make a gown for you. Good Luck with whatever option you choose - just don't risk your most important dress on a Chinese site.

David’s frequently has $99 sales. Your other option is a white bridesmaid dress from Azazie or Cocomelody.

There are many posts on the forums if you do a search that all the Chinese knockoff sites (Hebeos, JJs House, Light In the Box, Prom Girl, etc) have mixed reviews and there are more bad experiences than good. Many seamstresses will not touch them for alterations and you spend more money with replacements and returns than the value of the dress. Stick with a reputable US -based name brand for peace of mind.

Highly recommend checking out Lulus! Their dresses are beautiful and amazing quality. My dress is from Lulus and it was under $200

I am right there with you on the $ for something I'm going to wear once!! I am a little terrified of the reviews of these types of sites tho... When you look at their reviews they are good (maybe fake). When you look at outside sites the reviews are not good. You may get lucky and get something that looks like what you ordered but you may not, and the returns are next to impossible it seems.

I'm currently looking on Etsy. I have found a GORGEOUS dress that is exactly what I envisioned for $350. Yes, more than the 200 you are looking to spend, but still WAY less than bridal boutiques, and you still get a custom dress. Also, the reviews on Etsy are ligit, and many reviews show pictures of what was received which has made me feel more comfortable on the purchase.
