Dress issues and planning burnout.

Crystal, on June 17, 2020 at 10:04 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
So I’m one of the many brides effected by covid. We had to cancel our wedding (I lost my job due to covid).

We were going to do a dinner with just our parents but they’re worried about a second wave, so I came up with another idea. (Moving the timeline a whole month earlier).

However I have two issues. 1. The dress doesn’t fit in the new plan, it just doesn’t match the vibe. 2. I kind of hate it. The dress reminds me of the venue/wedding I fell in love with that I won’t be able to have. (We spoke about it and it doesn’t make sense for us to just try and do it later.)
I put a lot of work planning the first, and then canceling everything. I had a clear vision/theme/vibe. I was able to organize the smaller thing so it feels special but I’m just blank on where to go. (The theme/vibe etc)
Is anyone else going through this? Is anyone else switch dresses or maybe make changes that helped?

Aw for your new smaller dinner is there anything you can keep from your original vibe and theme to use? Such as decor pieces and what not ?

The new plan is just a boat ride in CT. No decorations just using the area/view.

Originally it was a vintage romantic vibe with greens and brass. I don’t think that would work on a boat. Like, I compromised and didn’t get white the first time because it wouldn’t be noticeable at the first venue, but now I feel like it’s going to look like an old dress I pulled out of the attic next to a bright white boat.

It was hard. We almost had the chance to do 10/10, but my maid of honor has a mandatory work weekend. So we did 10/3. It’s just our parents and siblings. When everything calms down we want to do a big backyard party for everyone else.

Hi Crystal! These are all such tough decisions, but ultimately you need to just focus on what will make you feel happiest on your wedding day! ❤️

If wearing your original wedding dress will make you unhappy - don't wear it! You could try selling it or holding on to it for a little while just in case you want to do something like an anniversary shoot later on. Or depending on the style you could shorten the length, or look through bridal separates and see if you could pair it with a new skirt or top!

A new dress that makes you happy would definitely be splurge-worthy as well! 😉
