Dress is fitting different in every area

Carissa, on August 20, 2020 at 5:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hi! So my alterations appointment is next Monday! I recently tried my dress on, and it’s pretty big in the boob area but i can’t zip the back up all the way on the bottom. I’m absolutely terrified to go for my appointment and that they won’t be able to do anything. I do not want a corset back, and i don’t have the money to get a different dress. Do you think they will be able to help me?

I'm sure they'll be able to do something! If it's too big in certain areas, they can take the dress in and make it fit perfectly. For areas that are too small, dresses can usually be let out 1-2 sizes (depending on how much fabric is there). Definitely go to the alterations appointment, the best way for them to know what needs to be done is to see the dress in person.

Did the dress fit when you bought it?
I would check with your seamstress, most dresses have wiggle room to let put

When i tried the dress on it was in the wrong size. They measured me and then ordered the correct size from there

Unless the sizing is extremely off, you will be fine. Most dresses are designed to be taken in or let out up to two sizes.

My experience is often the dress measurement locations (breast, hip, waist) don’t line up with dresses, I had to order 2 sizes up for that same reason. The waist and belly area were different.

I had the same thing happen to me. It was too big in the chest area but I could barely zip it up and it was super tight. I took it to David’s bridal and they were able to alter it. They just took up the straps and out the zipper lower to allow more room in waist. Then by bringing up the straps, it made the chest area not so big
