Dress Help!

Ally, on January 16, 2020 at 12:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Okay, so I know David’s bridal kind of has a whole leg in the market, and while I love their professionalism and courtesy, I don’t like their prices. I’m looking for a princess gown, something big and poofy. But I don’t want to be paying $800 for it as we have a budget. I guess my main question here is does anybody know if some cheaper bridal shop options that can have decent dresses (that I can trust)?

Honestly, David’s bridal is the cheapest I know in my area, besides consignment.

Sadly, David’s Bridal has a monopoly on the industry but they’re cheap (in more ways than one). Honestly (if you’re ok with buying online), then you’re better off purchasing from StillWhite.com or PreownedWeddingDresses.com or OnceWed.com

You can find new, unused designer dresses at discounted prices. Often the sellers are brides who changed their minds but are past the return deadline. There is more of a variety to choose from and you can avoid bring one of the trillion brides wearing the same exact David’s Bridal dress.

Especially if you want a princess dress, the dress is going to cost a lot. The amount of fabric that goes into a dress like that is often a big factor in driving up the price, and it’s important to pay the dressmakers a living wage- those dresses take a long time to make and many people go into making each dress.

You might be able to check Azazie or cocomelody? Or a sample sale at a bridal salon. Those are probably your best bets if you want to save some money.

I ordered the 👗 in a larger size. It’s easier to take one in than let it out.

Azazie is a great option and they have a large selection of dress. Plus you can get custom sizing for your dress as well and that can save on alteration costs as well.

Hi, I have never really bought clothes online for fear of it not fitting or being nowhere near what I paid for. Do you have experience with any of these sites to help cure that anxiety?

If you buy online, make sure it’s from a reputable site and most important the seller must have a good return policy. I bought mine from Amazon and although it was cheap and I was skeptical, I decided to buy because the seller offers free return if I don’t like the dress in person. It turned out to be the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen and I got it for $250 😍 so check out Amazon, Azazie and Cocomelody and make sure you know what return policy they have before ordering

The sites are legitimate and you’re buying directly from the bride or a bridal shop (they post their dresses on these sites as well to reach a larger market outside of their local area).

First dress I wanted was listed on preowned wedding dresses. A bridal shop in Texas was selling it at a crazy low price of $300. But I was too slow making a decision and it was sold to someone else. So I searched online all over and found it being sold new, unused at a bridal shop in Atlanta. But I paid $700 more 😫
The main thing is knowing what size you wear in bridal dresses and what style you like. Possibly find a dress a size larger. Some sellers also allow returns.

There are quality designers who make several gowns in the $1K range--Allure, Moonlight, Casablanca, Morilee. I would look up authorized resellers on their websites and try those shops. At a trunk show they'll offer 10% off. You can ask about a sample sale to get a dress under $800 but you may be limited by the size they carry (even if you happen to be plus size and the shop carries a few)... you can only take in a dress up to two sizes but you can barely size up (not a whole size, maybe not even half). So you'll have to be close to the sample size.
