Dress help!

on March 11, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30
Ok ladies, I have a huge dilemma!

My whole life, I wanted the pretty princess ball gown for my wedding. My.whole.life. fast forward to now- I have lost 60+ pounds and would REALLY like to show off my figure! As we all know, ball gowns arent known for showing off ones figure. Also, if I am going to spend $1500 on a dress, I would prefer to stay in it all night long. I will be going to the bridal salon to buy a dress (I'm only 7 months out 💀💀) TOMORROW, and I am still unsure about which direction I am going to go in.
So my options..... a drop waist or a typical ball gown. I plan to try on more of each, but what do you think of each style on me- and dont mind my face LOL!! Thanks guys!!Dress help! 1Dress help! 2

I absolutely love all these gowns on you! I feel like the first gown accentuates your waist more though

I think the best of both worlds is a drop waist ballgown! That being said, I did something similar. I purchased a ballgown because it fit at the time, but then I lost 30 pounds and wanted to show off my new figure. Enter the fitted mermaid! I love my dress so much - it shows off all my curves just right and really synched me in. Have you thought of a fit and flare? So it's a little bit of both? They also make detachable skirts, so you can have your big poofy ballgown and then take that off for the reception? I think the drop waist is stunning and still princess.

Both gowns are gorgeous, but I think the 2nd one is much more flattering. It accentuates your curves and highlights you. I also think it's still very princess like.

I feel like if you wanted something to show off your figure then you should go for form fitting if you are comfortable with the leg room. However, if you are choosing between these two I think dress one actually does better with pulling in your waist. Maybe try an A line dress too?

That second one looks GORGEOUS on you! The first one is just as pretty but I think with what you're going for, the second one is IT!

I think the 2nd one really shows your figure better. If you are still open to other dresses I think a great option is a form fitting/sheath dress with an overskirt that you can remove later in the evening.

I love the second one! You should definitely try as many styles on as you can; you might be surprised at what you fall in love with!

First of all, congratulations on the weight loss! I know how hard it can be to lose weight. I don’t know you, but I’m proud of you!

I loooove the first dress on you. I do feel like it accentuates your waist a bit more. Both are beautiful dresses on you, though!

    Hi!!

I had a similar situation except my mom more than myself pictured me in the ball gown...I lost 60+ pounds and all of my bridesmaids agreed that I should show off my figure. While I found a ball gown that did show off some...the mermaid/fit and flare I went with showed it off better and ultimately I felt best in it. You have to go with what you feel best in! Why don’t you try something like this with a Removable skirt.

They look nice, but if you want to show off that wonderful new shape I suggest to try on other styles. Then again I’m a petite lady who who disappear in those dresses 😆

Sooner do it then later because 6 months is really cutting it close.

I think dress number 2 is gorgeous on you, I always thought I'd wear a mermaid style dress, but I picked a fit and flare!

Thanks for your response! I tried on a few fit and flares, but didnt get that princess-y vibe. Ugh! Maybe I just didnt try on the right one!! This is a different salon, so I think I'll ask to try on some different styles!

I tried a few other "fit and flare" type dresses at other boutiques, but I didnt get the "bridal" feeling. Maybe I just didnt try on the right one? Ill have to ask this representative what shes got. Thanks for your response!

Thank you! It's crazy, you get soooo much advice, and sometimes its polar opposite! I'm with you though, try on as many styles as possible! I should have included in my OP that I didnt feel "bridal" in a mermaid/fit and flare/what have you type dress. I havent tried on any fitted dresses at this salon, I'll have to ask the rep to try on some at her boutique.

Damn... that's gorgeous. Honestly, I feel like I am so out of time to really look around (I wont be in town for the next two weekends, wedding oct. 10, 2020), that I decided that I NEED to order one tomorrow (I am going after work, I put myself in this situation!!!) Thanks for your response, I am so drooling right now!
