Dress help!

Leigha, on June 5, 2019 at 10:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25
Ok so my sister's wedding really hit hard on my body confidence.... I'm the only fat girl in that pic. I look awful. I really like the mermaid dress but now I dont know if I want to try it on because of my body type so I just picked out this ball gown style to hide all of it. I need to know if I'm doing the right thing.

Girl stop! You look great!! I dont think you look "fat" at all, I think you just happened to be the tallest girl in the group and there is nothing wrong with that. You go try on that mermaid dress and rock it! If its not the style for you then there are tons of different strikes to choose from. You are beautiful just the way you are ❤

??? There’s no fat girls in that pic, so start by getting THAT out of your head.

Go try on dresses. It’s cool if you know some things that you like, but, go with an open mind. Try on ALL the silhouettes to get a feel for how they work on you. Remembers samples won’t necessarily be your size and once you have your dress in your size it will be further tailored to your body so it will look perfect on YOU no matter what. Don’t try to shop for your body online or based on what a buying guide says. Get in dresses and see how you feel. You may be surprised! Wedding dresses tend to have so much structure theyre unlike regular dresses and fit differently. Those bridesmaids dresses in that picture have no shape— they don’t really do anyone justice. I think you’ll feel very differently in a wedding dress.

Girl, you are NOT fat! You’re beautiful! I’ve found I never really feel comfortable in bridesmaid dresses because most of the time you’re not picking the color or style. When you look for your wedding dress you get to pick what you feel most comfortable in! I wouldn’t write off trying the style you really want! Just go in and try on several different styles. When I went to look for my dress I picked something completely different than I thought I ever would because I felt my best! Even tho I never would’ve thought I could pull something like it off. Good luck and I promise you’ll be beautiful in whatever dress you pick!

Completely agree with this! You don't need to hide to a thing!!! Find a dress to show you off....confidence is beauty, and it's all in the way you carry yourself. You CAN rock that mermaid dress if it's the one you want.

“I’m the only fat girl in that pic” you look like you are the same size as the bride. She isn’t fat, you aren’t fat. She’s beautiful and so are you. I think you can totally get that mermaid style dress and it will show off all the right curves. I’m wearing a corset to give me a little more defined curves because I have no hips hahaha. I’m doing a mermaid gown and the way it’s structured it does enhance my shape. You will be beautiful. Start embracing the skin in ANY form it’s in. FS is marrying you for a reason 🤗😉

Forgot to mention...definitely go with an open mind. Try on all silhouettes. What they say is true, what you think you want may not be what you call in love with lol.

I literally had to look pretty hard to figure out which one you are. Get the style you love. You're going to be a beautiful bride either way!

    A. You are in no way fat. B. I also thought I was too heavy for a mermaid, and the a-line dresses I tried on actually made me look larger. When my bridal consultant put me in a structured fit and flare, my curves looked phenomenal. I love the way I look in that dress, and I originally wrote off that style of dress because of body conscious issues. Try the mermaid! You may be surprised by what you see!

You are beautiful and whatever you'll be wearing... YOU'LL STILL BE BEAUTIFUL IN.
But with that being said I do think it's good to be open minded about trying things on because you never know what you may love.

Nobody looks fat in the picture, go try different styles and you’ll know what compliments your body. I think ball gowns make even the smallest person look bigger. The other thing you need to think of, your FH loves you for you, and I’m sure he’s seen every inch of you, every one of us have flaws once the clothes are off😳

I'm a big girl too and want sure about the mermaid look. I initially feel in love with a ballgown, but after trying on a good mermaid dress, I was sold. Looking back at the ballgown pictures, I looked heavier (even though they were taken just a day apart). The mermaid accentuates the good curves and makes you look slimmer. Ultimately though, it comes down to what you feel good in. Confidence is the sexiest thing you can wear. If you feel fabulous, you'll look fabulous!

I personally think that mermaid dress would suit you well! The color of the bridesmaid dress was unfortunate as well as the length of the dress and length of the boots basically cutting off the length of your legs! You'll rock that mermaid! It won't look anything like that cocktail dress! With a long sweeping length and that design I think it'll perfectly emphasize your figure and look so beautiful! Please don't get discouraged! Try it! I think you'll love it! Smiley smile

I know it's hard to feel great about yourself sometimes and someone telling you to do it, doesn't always work. But let's be real here - everyone has some part of them they don't like. The key here is to just be confident and know that your partner loves you for you, so you should too!! Any dress that cinches at the waist or hugs your figure will be flattering. And should give you confidence!

Ask your consultant and tell her how you want to look and FEEL that day. She's done this so many times, just trust her when she pulls items for you to try on.

You're gorgeous! Don't settle for anything less than what makes you feel amazing! Good luck!

The best thing to do, is to go to a physical bridal salon and try on the different silhouettes to figure out which one looks best on you. You'd be surprised at what looks good vs what doesn't, and don't be shocked if you end up choosing something completely different than what you thought you wanted. I DID! I wanted a simple, bohemian style sheath dress...and ended up choosing an all over lace ball gown, haha. I have some extra weight to me, and tried on a fit & flare (Similar to mermaid) and it actually looked better than I thought it would. So trust me, and go try on some dresses!
