Dress fitting in 8 months?

Amanda-Joi, on August 24, 2019 at 12:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Should I be worried my dress won't fit in 8 months if I order it now? It takes 6 months to make...maybe I should order a size larger?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I just ordered mine this week and it won't be in until February. Im hoping to lose 5 to 8 pounds in the meantime. They will do several fittings so alterations will fix anything that doesn't fit right. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just ask your shop how many fittings they do.

I worried about this all the way up to my wedding. Order the size that fits great right now, alterations will fix the rest. The bridal shop ordered a size too big due to one of my measurements, but then I lost a ton of weight unexpectedly and the dress was huge! Alterations worked their magic and it fit like a glove on my wedding.

Getting a larger size is always better because it's easier to make a dress smaller instead of bigger Smiley smile

I ordered my dress in December and it arrived in May. My wedding is in September and I just had a final fitting two weeks ago. Based on my measurements in December I was a 2 (bust), 8 (waist) and 6 (hips), and my consultant suggested I order a 6 - that way only minor alterations would be needed. To be honest, I eat a balanced diet and have been exercising 4-5 days/week for years now. I didn't have to starve myself to fit in the dress; however, I did lose 4 pounds by they time my dress arrived and it fit perfectly. Hope this helps!
