Dress Fit Disaster

Ann, on February 20, 2020 at 6:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I feel so defeated. I went for what was supposed to be my final dress fitting today. The dress has a low back & because it’s so fitted, it squeezes my back so much & gives that crease/lumpy back look. Basically looks like pillows overflowing out of the dress in the back. But if she tries to let it out to fix that, the front sits away from my boobs too much and is too big/makes me look too bulky in the front. So I’m basically forced to choose between the front or the back since I apparently cannot have both look good together. Has anyone else had any sort of similar issue? I’m so frustrated. I wanted to look and feel amazing on my wedding day & honestly I’m dreading it now.

Oh no! Im sorry to hear this. My area of dread is my arms. I feel like no matter the angle they always look huge and dimply. KILLS me!

How soon is your wedding? Can you do some weight lifting and body weight exercises to tone up your back? I started doing deadlifts and different dumbell workouts to help me tone my back and arms up for my dress

My wedding is in 2 weeks 😬
I have actually been working out with a trainer since July & I am very happy with the progress I’ve made! Unfortunately I think no matter what your back looks like, if you pull it that tight, it will squeeze it together back there. There has got to be a solution! But if the seamstress doesn’t know how to fix it, I sure as heck don’t. I guess I just should not have gotten a dress with such a low back. I just did not know at the time. 😩😩

Keep tweaking the dress, do not give up. Shorten the straps that go over your shoulders to pull the chest in more taught. And you can try fashion tape to tape the neckline of the dress to yourself to minimize gaps in the chest ... Yes, this low back dress trend is a pain in the butt for anyone who doesn’t luck out that the dress was constructed for their shape.

You don’t have to choose. She’s not doing something right. Maybe add cups to your chest area so there won’t be any spaces there.

The dress already has cups in them. The main problem I see is that when the front of the dress is not fitted/tight to my body, it makes the cups stick out too much & looks bulky up top. So I feel like adding more cups would add to the bulkiness. Does that make sense? I am wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion from another seamstress. Not sure anyone could even do anything this late in the game.

    Hi Ann,
My ❤️ goes out to you, I have kinda the same problem, I have less than B cup boobs 😤 so I have a gap between my chest and the sewn in cups, so my seamstress is putting in a sticky bra type think to keep the dress against my boobs!

Love your dress - it’s beautiful! I love the back with the extra sheer part. I wish I had thought to see if my seamstress could have maybe added something like that to my dress to help cover my back.

I will have to look into the sticky bra thing. I am currently looking for another seamstress to get a 2nd opinion. I just don’t think I should have to settle.

Yikes two weeks! I bet that is adding to the stress, i'm sorry!

What about getting a second opinion from another seamstress? It just might be impossible for your current tailor because they don't know how to do it?
