Dress deposit

FinallyDoingIt, on May 22, 2013 at 12:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I keep reading about dress deposits. I had no idea I could put money down and pay the rest at a later date.

Can this be done at David's Bridal? What is the typical deposit? 50% of the cost?

I got my dress at DB, but no one mentioned a deposit/payment plan to me, we just paid the total up front. Can't hurt to ask though!

When you spend over a certain amount there are financing options.

    They have options.

You can use their Lay-a-way plan but they will not order the dress until it is paid in full

You can apply for the DB CC with one year interest free

or you can pay it in full.- This is typically for dresses off the rack or sale dresses

I didn't get mine at david's bridal either but mine was 50% when ordering it and the other 50% had to be paid when the dress was ready to ship!

For David's there are 3 options besides paying in full:

    1) Layaway - purchase over $99, 25% down, 60 days to pay the balance, dress has to be in the store (so you're buying that physical dress that you tried on)

    2) Special Order Reservation - same terms as above but this is for when the dress isn't in the store (your size or you just want a never tried on dress). In this case they won't order the dress until it's paid but they do 'earmark' it so they won't sell out.

    3) The CC - dress ordered immediately or you can take it home just like if you've paid in full. Usually
