Dress codes???

What is an appropriate dress code for a 2pm wedding and cocktail reception to follow? I dont want them to where ball gowns and a tux but I would like my guests to look nice and dressed up. I was thinking semi-formal or dressy casual. Should I note this in the invitations?

No these aren't ours.. they're the ones from the website that I really like. So that's the thing.. our theme is rustic.. but our wedding is at 4, reception to follow. We're having it at the Coast Guard Academy.. and I feel like since people know it's a military school, they should know it's a little dressy? I just don't want anyone to be wearing jeans! But oh well..

I hear you on the jeans thing - mine was at an arboretum at 11am and I was spreading the word "Please no jeans" - so I do hear you. In reality I would not have noticed if someone was in darker blue, clean jeans with a blazer and dress shoes. And as someone who has been married twice, if you look back on your day and say "Wow! That was great except for Uncle Ed in jeans....." you and groom had a GREAT day!!

Your theme is rustic? That sends a more chill vibe. Relax and enjoy your days up to and including the wedding.
