Anybody else hardcore struggling to stay in budget?

I came into this not wanting to spend more than $1,000-$1,500 but realistically all the dresses I want are worth well-over $10k so even if I find them in preowned they're still only as low as $5k (at the VERY lowest lol).

So tell me why instead of changing my style interest, I'm wanting to drop my whole wedding budget on just the dress that I'm only gonna wear one time and never touch again.

lol send help

I would recommend being open to samples, returns, Craig's List, etc. Someday you WILL have a dental bill, need a new stove, furnace or A/C unit or a new/used car. You will look at $13,000 dress and think "What the hell was I thinking?"

I got mine for $60 off amazon. It was a white bridesmaid dress. I felt beautiful!

    Good luck, girl!

I bought this dress from a sample sale at David's bridal. It was $600. I can't imagine spending 10k on a dress (mainly because they look the same as the 1k dresses). But if you have the money so be it.

Check out your local mom and pop bridal shops a lot of them are reasonable and will do free alterations. My local bridal salon gave me 10% off of my dress my veil and alterations were free. Total cost of my dress was $1,250.00

I just made an account on ww to offer you some advice. Try on all the dresses you love that cost exactly double what your budget is. Any dress you want. Once you’ve found the dress shop around at bridal stores that specialize in resale. Be open to flaws!

My dress is my dream dress, from Lazaro. It would’ve cost me $5500 new. I paid $1100. It was a sample that had a tear in the skirt. I had it hemmed off. Not every damage to a dress spells its doom. Stick to well known names to have the best chance of finding your dress at a steep discount.

    Good luck!

Girl, my budget was $1500 and my consultant put me in one that was $2000. The boutique met me at my budget and I walked away with the dress that day. I don't know what you're looking for, but my dress is intricately beaded, lace, train, etc. It is not lacking in quality ANYWHERE on the dress. There are dresses out there that I am sure you will love that are in your budget. Open your mind.

It sounds like the dress just isn't an option... You can look on resale sites to see if you can find one from a bride that already purchased it... but sometimes we don't get things we want if the budget doesn't fit.

I hate to say that but there is no reason to spend more if you can't. Mess around with the budget to see if you can make it fit first, but if not I think you'll just have to let that dress go sweetie.

I had a harder time finding those extremely fitted styles at the shops I’ve been to. I have a couple suggestions for you. One, shop online by brand choosing designers in your budget such as pronovias, sottero and midgley, etc. You can refine your searches by selecting mermaid/ fit and flare silhouette. The off the shoulder pieces could easily be altered into a strapless dress so you don’t necessarily have to search off the shoulder. If you find a dress you love find bridal shops that supply that designer then contact them to see if the dress is available there to try on, or if a sample gown can be ordered. My next suggestion is to compromise. The dress you posted is very detailed and intricate which usually means more money. Can you put a little extra money toward your dress budget or do you need to go for something a little more simple. Another suggestion is to attend bridal appointments with an open mind. Try on other silhouettes and styles that are in your budget and see if you like it—you never know! Also try to think of it this way would you rather have the Pinterest dress or $10,000 cash. It’s a lot of money to spend on something you’ll wear for one day.

Omg I think this is the best suggestion yet! I'll definitely try this Smiley smile I also got in touch with a woman that makes handmade wedding gowns (and I've seen her work, it's gorgeous) and I sent her photos and descriptions of the dresses I like and she quoted me at about $750 which is a LOT better than I expected, and leaves me a lot of room to make some changes that might cost more

Hey girl! I got mine on sale (the large dress) from Maggie Sotero, then bought straps from David’s Bridal. I had another seamstress put on the straps though because I didn’t trust David’s
