So I paid my dress off a few weeks ago but my salon that i got it has crappy hours so I haven't been able to pick it up yet. I am picking it up this weekend and I am SOOOOO EXCITED! I just got in contact with my seamstress and got my appt for that all lined up as well!

How far out were you when you started alterations?

What kind of alterations did you need?

Did you set a budget for alterations and if so what was it(if you don't mind answering) and did you stay in that field?

I haven't set a budget but i know when I first ordered my dress it looked like minimal alterations were needed (just a bustle and adjusting on the cups/bust. I don't even know what a fair price would be for this. My best friend used this seamstress and she did great work and she said she paid $400 for it so hoping to come in around $200 or $200... Guess we will see next week!

Wow! Thats a lot in alterations but still in budget for your dress so tahst good at least. Pros and cons to buying something in your size and not in your size. I'd be destroyed if my alterations were that much. I would be wearing a much to large/small dress and dealing with it haha. I told myself $1000 was my budget for my dress but after shipping and import fees and taxes and the dress itself I spent about $1900 -_-

Alteration date twins haha thats when I have my first alterations appt too! Yeah that sucks its a flat fee. I would definitely be making them do some custom stuff. I'd be like hold on let me by my dress one size too big so you can make it fit like a glove to my body and everything. I'd be getting all the works done haha

Hey there! So, I’m afraid to post pics of my dress because my FW gets on here too! We are keeping our dresses a surprise! 😆. (Which is super hard!)
Congrats on October 13th!! Ours is October 6th and I’m so excited! October weddings are so much fun.. beautiful weather, moody elements, and ours is a little edgy-romantic too! What’s yours like?
And, girl, I totally feel you on the price of alterations! Our dresses cost so much they should be free!! Or at least made to fit perfectly.. or both!

It’s honestly stressing me out so much haha. Like after it’s done will I even still like it? She’s only done some minor hemming and a little cutting at the top. Seriously debating seeing if I can find something I like off rack closer to my size

I don’t have any pictures because fh is snoopy lol. My alterations lady was really good so I didn’t get stabbed at all, but I can totally see it happening! I dont know where your located but I was told a lot of places do a base rate that includes everything I got so maybe you’ll get lucky because you don’t need it hemmed!

Yes that’s all I need to have done. I have a corset back so it can be tightened or loosen as needed.

Haha understood my FH is super snoopy just not on here, now if I had to store my dress at the house he would be all over it! I can imagine that is super hard! I loved the date of the 6th and that was my original date but when we submitted our contract someone paid for that date in full and it killed me... I literally cried but then said suck it up buttercup and picked the week after. I am super excited for the fall weather!

I live in FL and FH grew up here, I am originally from Upstate NY so I wanted the fall elements. Since all my family needed to travel anyways (all of them still live there) we decided to do TN to get the fall elements without it being too cold yet. Hoping to have some changing leaves and beautiful scenery. We are doing a rustic wedding (In a barn and getting married outside with mountain views!

Yeah definitely should be included or be custom made to fit us exactly! Hahha!

Yeah that will definitely change the look of it slightly if you have to go down a few sizes so I understand completely too, I would be so nervous, I'd be nervous in general to have that much work done to it hoping they wouldn't mess it up haha! Why did you choose this dress to begin with> Would it be worth looking into another dress? Can you return the current dress if so? lol

Beautiful dress! My wedding is in Feb. 2020. I will be fitted in late October and again in January. I also have a super detailed dress - we think I will need cups, bustle and a hem. I hope it's not too expensive, but I budgeted $500 - we will see!

I took my dress back in 7 weeks before the wedding. I've had to go back twice since then, and I go back for the 3rd time this weekend so hopefully everything is done! I didn't set a budget just because I had no idea what to expect, and it was completely out of my control. We were told about $300 back in August, but in May we paid over $500 just for alterations.
