Dress Advice, would you cut out the clear fabric out?

Okay, so this is the only picture I found of my dress online and of course you can't see it here, but in red I showed where it would be. Okay, so this is the only picture I found of my dress online and of course you can't see it here, but in red I showed where it would be. The dress has see-through/skin colored fabric in the chest and when I wear it you can see a line from up close, but not from a distance. Although, as you can see, the dress has a deep V so I'm not sure if the fabric is supposed to be for breast support. I am planning to have my seamstress possibly add some fabric in the lower breast area just because I'm a slightly more conservative gal, but I'm not totally sure yet. The ladies at the dress store told me I can cut out the see through fabric if it bothers me, but what would you guys do? my biggest worry is seeing the line from the fabric in pictures because it doesn't perfectly match my skin color on my chest, but I would also hate to cut it out and have the dress falling away from my boobs all night. Obviously I will make sure my experienced seamstress has a say too, I don't see her until next month.

Thanks everyone! So no necklace at all right? Just some nice earrings like one of the other posters said?

Yes, just earrings. There is enough detail on the bust area that a necklace would just take away from it.

Is there any way to remove the top inch or so of the fabric but keep it as it gets closer to the cups?

I believe we could cut it down an inch without affecting the dress but I almost feel like it would be more visible right on top of my bust line because of the change in dimensions, but I'm not sure

    Leave the dress alone.

    Do not wear a necklace.

If you're more conservative, why did you get that dress?

Add the modesty panel if you need to or jus see if they can add some matching lace or beads instead to cover the plunging neckline. But I would leave the skin colored fabric there, it's holding the straps where they are.

If you want to do a necklace, I'd do one that is simple and teardrops the way the dress does in front. Or a single jewel necklace.

GymRat, it's not so much like I would never wear it the way it is or that I think it's inapropropriate, it's moreso that I'm just a conservative personality and I think I might like the little V higher, but I'm not sure yet, I might leave it because it's unique too. Melissa, I was thinking the same, maybe just having my seamstress adding some beading to move the V up a tiny bit.

Wait until you have your dress and try it on for the seamstress. You can use fashion tape to prevent any gaping.

You might be able to find netting that matches your skin tone better and have your seamstress swap it out. I think it looks fine though. No one else will obsesses over it the same way you will.

I think you're overthinking this and really should find a reliable seamstress to consult on this. They will be able to tell you for sure what your options are. I attached a picture of my friend who had netting on her neckline like yours. In person and in photos it looked great.

How many people are going to be as close to your chest (and staring at it) as the camera is in that photo? lol. My dress has an illusion as well. I'm wearing my hair half down to cover some but I don't think anyone else will notice that close up except maybe FH. I think your dress is gorgeous Smiley smile

I am not a seamstress, but I am willing to bet the fabric helps to hold together the bust. My dress is similar and without that the cups will not stay in the same place, it is part of the dress structure.

You can always take it to a seamstress or have a shop look at it, but I think it is necessary for the look of the bodice of the gown. IMO anyway.
