Is it okay to have a dress be a little too long?

Is that with the shoes that you'll be wearing? I'd get it hemmed, personally. I wouldn't want to be tripping on it, or even dragging it on the ground. If you don't want to hem it, find a shoe that will give you a little extra height.

I wouldn’t have wanted mine to be too long. I definitely tripped over it a few times when I took my shoes off towards the end of the night, it would have been a huge pain to trip over it all night.

If you're not going to be tripping over it, then I'd say that's OK!

The only time that would be a problem is during the reception when I change into flats. Ugh...oh well...alteration is going to have to be done. It's only a hem, the bustle is already done.

Haha I was actually wondering this same thing because I don’t want to have to spend the money to get mine hemmed 😂 I would definitely worry about tripping though

Try it on in different areas... For example, on my carpet in the house I swore it needed a hem, but in the alterations room with no carpet, it hit the ground perfectly.

I would for sure get it hemmed - as the little bit of extra length will end up driving you crazy. The length of my dress was perfect but for the hour or two we were outside taking photos, it was too long with the grass and uneven ground. I kept stepping on the extra inch or two and had to lift it as I walked. I wouldn't have wanted to do that the entire day!

Remember, the reception is where you're walking around and trying to dance. You don't want to be tripping on your dress trying to dance with your new spouse!

My thoughts exactly! But I don't want to fall on my face either!!! Oh well...we'll see!!
Maybe I can hem it myself!! I'll have to look at the way it's hemmed now and see if the underlay would need it too. If it needs it too I'll need to take it somewhere.

My only other option is to wear something else for the reception, but then that's an extra cost too!! To hem or not to hem....lol

Mine was about 1/2 inch too long (with pretty high heels). During alterations she just hemmed the under layers (there's like 5-6 of them!) and left the scalloped lace on top alone. I didn't trip or anything, it may have been in the dirt a bit more but it's fine.

I saw a picture of your dress, before, not long ago, and remember loving it put now cannot picture it. Some cuts you can add a 2nd thickness of a petticoat type tier to the underneath peticoat or slip. About 8" along the bottom 2 straight seams no one ever sees, so far faster than hemming. . All it does is push the bottom outwards a little the lower fee inches, as a hoop skirt does. Only lifts the skirt about 1/2 inch. When you step on the skirt of a long skirt, it is because as you step forward the dress does not go forward til your hips do. SSI you step ong the skirt. An extra tier at the bottom of a petticoat or slip acts like a hoop skirt . It holds the skirt out, nut hanging down, so always ahead of your feet as you walk. You can also buy or make ( have made) a cheap petticoat where bottom is stiff and full, but thin slip material over hips, so it only pushes hem out more than now, no fullness above mid thing. Post your pick, or tell me section, thread name where you posted it before, I can tell by looking.

I’d rather my dress be too long than too short.

Mine is just a little too long but I like the way it looks and I don’t have any problem walking around in it (I have tested that... extensively 😂)

Here's the pictures. But none show the bottom..when I walk it feels like my feet are going to tangle up. The petticoat idea sounds great!!
