Dream bouquet complete - Sola flower DIY

Kim0423, on November 11, 2015 at 5:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 4 91

I had been planning on doing these for months, and I'm so in love with how all my sola flower bouquets came out! The bouquets are actually simple to put together, but definitely time consuming. I spent a good couple of hours just on the handles over the last couple days. I spent Saturday with 4 of my bridesmaid and they helped a ton with stemming the flowers. I also let them arrange their own bouquet to make it a bit more special.

I spent roughly $200 total. This included about $90 worth of sola flowers, $50 in filler flowers, and the rest in supplies (such as floral tape, wire stems, hot glue, etc) and shipping costs. With that, I was able to create my bouquet, my toss bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, 7 boutonnieres, 2 corsages, and 13 arrangements for my centerpieces, and 10 flowers left over. I averaged out the costs to be about $22 for my bouquet, and $7/ea for the BMs bouquets. The centerpieces aren't finished to show, but I will when they are complete.

Thank you! Honestly, I've thought about it! I am actually sad I'm done with the bouquets because I loved putting them together. Selling on Etsy is actually my job already (creating jewelry), so I'm not sure if I would have time to run two shops.

@Ally - Thank you!! For the handles of the BM bouquets, I cut toilet paper rolls and hot glued them to the stems to make it a smooth surface. Then I used small twine and tightly wrapped it around the handle. My bouquet was already thick because of all the babys breath around the outside and it was smooth enough with just floral tape that I didn't need to put anything else. This took a lot more time that I thought, but I do love the look. I'd also consider just using burlap and it would be a much quicker project.

I still have to do my toss bouquet, so I'll grab some photos when I wrap that handle Smiley smile

OMG they are amazing! When you first said a budget of $200 I thought that meant for your bouquet only. But all that for $200 is awesome. How long did it take to get the flowers once you ordered them? And about how many flowers are in your bridal bouquet?

Thank you all so much! I'm glad people love them as much as I do!

@SwoleMates2016 - There are 28 flowers in mine, and 9-10 in all the BM/centerpieces. I ordered mine from save-on-crafts, it took them two days to ship, and it got to me in 1 day (I only live about 3 hours away from where they ship from).
