Double Weddings Anyone?

Fabiola, on January 28, 2021 at 3:30 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

Hello

So I'm having a double wedding with my sister in law; well I'm doing a vow renewal since I eloped and she's having an actual wedding. We're very close and we're both getting married next year. She was getting married in March 2022 and me on May 2022 but decided to combine our weddings. Its not for everyone I especially think its harder for brides to be ok with sharing their day but we're actually relieved to be sharing the attention. We're both very similar in personalities and have very similar tastes in style so its working perfectly. We decided on May 28, 2022 as our wedding date. The things that made us think of doing this is the fact that we have a lot of close family that live out of state and don't think they'll be ok with coming to 2 weddings 3 months apart and she and my husband (her brother) really want everyone there. Something else that is great about double weddings is double the budget on everything! I like the idea of a double wedding its different and special for my husband and his sister but i know its not for everyone. Has anyone had any experience with one? either having one or going to one?

I've never been to one, experienced one, nor would I want to have one. I think that's so interesting though that you and your SIL are able to share the day, and have such similar tastes!!Smiley shame

For me it would be so difficult to do that. I like to take control over details, and...I'm not going to lie...I am not the type of person that is okay with sharing a special moment like that with another person that isn't my SO lol. 😂

More power to you though!! I think it's great that this is something that works for you both!! If you decide to post a BAM, I'll def. check it out to see how everything turned out! Smiley heart

These used to be very common from the late 1800s to 1960s. They aren't really done today but that doesn't mean you can't. Go for it if everyone is on the same page

My mom and her sister had a double wedding in 1948! Their dresses were the same, but they carried different flowers; between them they had 6-8 BMs and 2 FGs, who all wore white dresses.... It was quite the "society wedding" for post-war NJ. Congrats on your day! Smiley heart

I remember there was another girl here on wedding wire that had a double wedding! I don’t think she ever did a BAM though. Or maybe she had to push her wedding back due to the pandemic.
I have never been to a double wedding, or known anyone personally who has done one, but I think it’s a super cool idea if both couples are in agreeance with everything! I would absolutely consider doing a double wedding with my best friend! It would be double the budget, double the love, and double the fun!!
I hope you continue to share your planning journey with us here!

I think that is such a great idea and wouldn't hesitate to do the same if the situation arose. Please do a BAM!
