Donut wall

Jameena, on August 11, 2017 at 8:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Anyone already had their reception or wedding with a donut wall or planning to do one? We're planning on having a sweet shop at our reception with a donut wall, cookies, mini cupcakes and a cake. I want to know how your donut wall went, if people ate from it or treated it more like it was a display?

I'm trying to figure out how many donuts to order but I've never done a donut wall before!

I'm planning on having donuts too but not displaying them on a wall. I feel like it's not very sanitary and they have the potential of the icing melting and dripping [at least the ones i plan on getting from a local shop where the icing never really hardens] but I think it's a cute idea though.

I didn't have a wall but we did a donut display/table. We only did about one donut per person with a few extra because we also had cake. We waited until after dinner to put the donuts out so they stayed fresh.

I'm planning on having donuts as well and I'm looking for more of a large tiered thing. That's really the only dessert we are having.

Yep! Not a donut wall but a donut display to complement the coffee bar. And like a PP stated, I'll have my caterer bring them after dinner to keep them fresh!

    @Christina, that display is beautiful!

As a guest, I don't think I'd eat a donut off a wall since I'm not sure if it's gross or just a decoration. If you display it on food platters, it's much prettier and appetizing!

    Thanks ladies...

Hmmm ok. My sister did a donut globe at my shower and it was a hit! Maybe I will just spell out "M" for our last name and put the rest on the table. My FH made that donut wall so I would hate to not use it at all!!!

Here is one that was at our venue a few weeks ago. I took pictures since our daughter is having donuts. It did look pretty, but some of the donuts fell off.

Honestly I'd think it's only decoration and wouldn't eat one. A display would be more inviting to guests, IMO

I wouldn't Eat one off of the wall. Sounds disgusting for sanitary reasons...and I would think it was decoration.

I didn't understand what a donut wall was but now that I've seen that picture I can honestly tell you I would not eat that.

Most did not eat them. There were plenty of donuts and cookies on the table. It did look pretty as the decoration.

I was wondering what a donut wall was too until I saw the photo.

I agree with others - I would think it was a decoration and not eat any donuts from it (plus I would wonder how long they had been hanging there...)

I love the idea of donuts, but not on a wall. We may add donuts to our dessert table.

I would feel bad about leaving a hole in your decorative wall.

I like the idea of doing an M though, and having donuts in a display to take.

I'd avoid eating a donut sprinkled with concrete dust and block off another square on my Wedding Pinterest Bingo card.

Sorry, I don't even understand why donut walls are a thing. I would just arrange them somehow on the dessert table.

Donuts are for "Fat Friday" in The Teacher's Lounge.
