I was hanging out with some friends Saturday night and one said "you know what you should have at your wedding? A donut wall!" I didn't know what it was do I did a quick Pinterest search and it's exactly what it sounds like- a wall with donuts on it (reference picture attached). At first I thought this was the coolest thing ever and I just had to have it, but the more I thought about it I'm not sure how practical it would be. My reception will be indoors with AC so there shouldn't be any problems with melting but I still worry there would be drippy donuts and that some might even slide off the hooks. Not sure how likely that is but now I'm imagining everything that could go wrong.

Thoughts? Would you think this is cool or kinda silly? I keep going back and forth!

ETA: Thought I should add for clarity, if I have donuts anywhere at the wedding they will be in addition to cake, not instead of.

We are doing donuts but displaying them like cupcakes. For the germs, dust and bugs wouldn't it be the same if your cake is sitting on a table being displayed?

    What ^ Danielle said.

People are so strange with certain desserts. If you think dust will get on donuts then I have news for you, there's going to be dust on your cake, cookies, s'mores, cupcakes, rice krispie treats, etc...

I feel like donuts are only OK for breakfast/brunch receptions. If I saw a wall of donuts for a dinner reception it wouldn't make sense to me because its more of a breakfast thing not dessert. Just my opinion.

If I could live off of just eating donuts I probably would, so I like the idea Smiley winking I think it's fun! And delicious!

Skip the donut wall. It looks cute in pictures but not practical. I don't want to pull my desert off a wall and once people start taking them, it doesn't look so cute. It's also very easy for them to fall off. I work in corporate event planning and we had a soft pretzel wall at the holiday party and no one cared.

@MizzCara - I am doing the same thing although donuts are just one of the many choices we are having.

I appreciate all of the opinions! I do have to agree with Danielle that as far as air particles/dust goes, I don't see how donuts sitting out are any different to a cake sitting on its table. But that aside, there are still several other factors to consider. I do think I want donuts, just maybe in a different type of display. Thanks everyone!

Ehhhhhhhhhh... in theory it sounds cool, but looking at it... I don't know what it is, but I just don't like it. It seems kind of bizarre and moderately unsanitary. Neat idea, but I just don't think it would look very good.

It's a hard pass for me. There's nothing appealing about donuts on a wall. I also imagine them going stale by the time it's time for desserts.

There are people who don't like cake????

Seriously, though, it's a cute idea but I'm not sure how many people would take one with all the food you're already having.

I am not big on the wall maybe on a table but they would have to be something unique not just a krispy creme.
