Don't rain on my parade

I went to a wedding this past weekend and I just had to share my experience. It was a destination wedding at a beautiful Ranch about an hour outside of Sacramento. It was absolutely pouring rain. Not a drizzle. a downpour. The bride did not worry. She said, "I don't care if not one person shows up, I am getting married under that oak tree!". And she did! Over 200 people showed up and we stood in the rain to watch them exchange vows. Granny said, "almost 93 years on this earth and I've never seen anything like this!" It was spectacular. She looked amazing, even soaking wet. The make up didn't even budge and she is just blessed with great hair that still looked beautiful. I wanted to share this with you all. It was a great reminder that even if the worst weather can try and ruin your day, it is still YOUR day. Nothing can take away your happiness if you don't let it!

Oh Lawdy I’m remembering why I left this site after my wedding.... “It’s YOUR day” might be the worst phrase in the wedding planning vocabulary. Sure, have the details and colors you want, shuck some traditions or whatever, but this is too often used to justify poor guest treatment. I would straight up leave if I had to stand in the rain. Nope. Not spending an entire evening sopping wet in my best clothes for anyone.

I thought it was a cute story! I guess it depends on the crowd, but I wouldnt mind getting a little wet if it was an outdoor wedding! I'd probably be too excited for my friends anyway lolol

Hahahhahahahaha yes lol idk I agree I think especially the ceremony, the bride should get what she wants. I think it's great she did that. If guests really had a problem with it I would hope they went home cuz I wouldn't want them there lol

I like this story. She carried out her vision and no one was forced to stand there. They did it anyway.

Thank you for sharing! I'm hoping to have similar composure on my day in the event of bad weather

The moral of the story was to not stress even if the worst thing you could think of happens. I personally have a rain plan for my outdoor wedding, but will try to remember this when I'm freaking out over small details not falling into place.

... and this is why I'm getting married under a clear tent #weatherproof. Good for her, though! At the end of the day she's married to her best friend/love.

Isn't that the truth? I'd stand in rain, wind, snow, whatever to support my loved ones. It sounds like you have special people in your life as well and they are lucky to have you! You get me!
