Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Dary! We're so happy to have you here!

Congratulations on your engagement Smiley heart

Are you Dominican or is your future spouse? Does either of you have parents or relatives who can help guide you in the traditions of the culture?

Have you selected an officiant versed in these traditions who can be a resource to you?

What is it you're envisioning for the ceremony?

    Hi Dary!
Im will be married to a Dominican, and even though I’m not doing a traditional wedding, I have attended some. They are usually religious, so you may expect to have your traditional wedding ceremony in the church. Also, during the vows, the groom gives the bride a set of 13 coins (to symbolize financial unity i guess). Also, the bride offers a portion of her bouquet (or a separate bouquet) to Virgin Mary. For the father/daughter dance, a classic merengue song. I can’t think of anything else that has stood out to me. If you will be married to a Dominican, rely on your MIL or another person on his side of the family to help you plan.

    Hey Dary!

My fiance and I are both Dominican and we plan on having a few traditional wedding elements too. Totally agree with Ariana on everything she said. Usually dominicans have godmothers/godfathers along with their bridal party and in the last few years I've seen every wedding have an "hora loca" which is usually the last hour of the reception where fun upbeat music and party accessories are handed out to the guests while they dance the final hour away. You can pick a fun theme for the hora loca that reflects you and your finance's personality. Hope this helps!
