Has anyone here decided to get a direct web address instead of listing weddingwire.com?

If so, what company did you go with?

I was thinking of getting a personalized .com web address and linking it to our website here to make it easier for the guests to remember our website address. However, I wasn't sure how to exactly go about it.

Any ideas?

    Nope. I just went with www.weddingwire.com/*insert our names here* it was on it's on section in the invitation

    How do I forward my website to a custom domain I purchased?

    If you have purchased a custom domain (i.e. www.dickandjane.com) and want it to forward to your WeddingWire website, you will need to go through the Domain Provider. It is recommended that you have a custom URL for your wedding website to make the forwarding as easy as possible.

    You can obtain your unique URL for your wedding website by following these simple steps:

    Log in to your account

    Click on My Wedding Website

    Click on Settings

    This first option is for a unique personal URL for your wedding website. You can choose the web address for your wedding website here and save it for use right away.

    **Please keep in mind that we do not offer Domain Name Servers (DNS); you will have to forward your website to the custom URL you created on WeddingWire. Please see your Domain Provider's support center for more instructions.

    As far as getting the domain name in the first place, just Google "domain name registrants" and pick one that's not expensive.

    I use freehostia for my travel site. Very inexpensive. Go Daddy and Yahoo is also low cost. I hear Yahoo is more user-friendly though.

    I started a site here but I would rather not be connected to WW.
