Is the dollar dance still a thing? Are you doing it?

Definitely not doing it! Not asking for money in any way, shape, or form!

Paying to dance with me...eck..gross. If tacky is so overused there are plenty of other terms such as money hungry, greedy, tasteless, inappropriate, graceless, garish, brassy...I'm sure there are more.

If you want people to dance with you and get on the dance floor, go grab people and ask them to dance. It doesn't have to be a big tacky show.

It's originally a Mexican tradaition. We're doing it because my grandma is really traditional and it's an aspect that didn't bother me all that much

All of my family members have done it. It's actually pretty funny but it's also expected for our family so it's not a big deal. FH and I decided not to do one though, mostly just because it might be awkward for his family.

No one said cultural = tacky.....I do glass breakings, the Stephana, leis, garlands and tea ceremonies all the time.

All are cultural. None are tacky.

It's a huge thing in my culture . I'm not so sure I'm doing it . The way ive seen it work is family members and God Parents are the one who pin money to the bride and groom .

I can't tell if OP is calling our advice horrible, or thanking us for giving "you are horrible" advice....

ETA: This is why grammar and spelling is important. It makes it difficult to tell sarcasm from an insult.

In my fiancé's culture it's a thing so we're doing it. Before that, I had never heard of it. And if it wasn't for it being a cultural thing (he's half Mexican), I wouldn't do it, but they insisted on tradition. So yeah.

OP, you asked if people were doing it, majority said no. How is that horrible advice? People were just answering your question.

OP, you asked for advice and you got it. I'm sorry you are taking it personally and calling it horrible.
